Description Unlike other nonprofit animal welfare organizations, Houston Humane Society receives no federal, state or local government funding, relying solely on donations, program services and special events to fund our life-saving work. In addition to funding the shelter's programs and services, donations also play a critical role in our onsite veterinary clinic, which provides low cost, full service veterinary care to the general public. Providing these essential veterinary services at a price that low income families can afford is a critical step in keeping pets healthy and happy in their homes, and we continue to serve approx. 30,000 households a year through the clinic.

I will never donate to this place! They turned us away after we called and told them that my friend wanted to take a dog that showed up at her house and was very friendly but she couldn't keep him because she travels. We took him and they told her that they couldn't take him because they were full. We drove from Hobby to Old Katy location. These rescue and this Houston Humane Society places are a joke and pure lies! I don't respect these places at all! We took a picture of the poor dog. They ought to be ashamed!

Really amazing organization with a good purpose, they provide healthcare for all of their cats. Their onsite Veterinarian staff is great and the people at the front desk are helpful with the adoption process.

I adopted my cat from here. I like that they regularly update the online profiles for available animals. The best time to go is on a weekday. The weekends get crowded and it’s stressful to try and meet all the cats when it’s busy. Also adoptions stop at 5 so if you go in the afternoon, there’s a good chance you’ll have to come back the following day to actually take the pet home. Adoption fees are reasonable at 50$ for most of the cats. I prefer this place to other shelters because the cats have their own rooms and you just walk in and meet them. Other shelters, you have to ask an employee to move them from their display room to a one-on-one meeting room. It’s better to let the cats have their space that you are able to enter. It’s also is helpful to see them around other cats. Most of the rooms had 2-4 cats per room. They have a good mix of young and middle aged cats with a variety of personalities.

Wonderful experience! Lovely friendly staff. My dogs weren’t afraid to go with them . My dogs were completely content with being in their facility. I adore this place! Fast affordable service!!! I recommend Houston Humane Society this location especially for all your pets needs.

The wait to be seen at the desk was too lengthy, they don’t tell you prices until the service is complete. I paid $56 for 1 shot, how is that considered low cost? You have to pay a $35 office visit on top of any services EACH time you visit. Not very low cost friendly if you ask me. Will not be returning

We adopted a puppy called Cream Cheese. We renamed him Cuddles. This place is super clean and everyone is helpful and friendly.
