The process was simple, the staff was friendly, and we got a sweet new addition to the family.

They do not take owner or rescue surrenders!!!! If you think you will find a dog and magically take him here for rescuing, you’ve got another thing coming. Their website is EMPTY in terms of calendar. There will never and has never been a date available for their so called “drop off appointments “. If they truly cared about animals, they would give priority to those of us who have animals routinely dumped in their backyards, instead of rescues that make it worth their while. Also, they don’t have small dogs for adoption, very rarely … it’s always pit bull pit bull pit bull. Maybe if the country would pass a law on breeding them they wouldn’t be so overrun with them at shelters, but I tried for months to find a home for one that showed up at my place and they refused. How’s that for a spin ?

Rescue groups pull the most adoptable dogs (small size, puppies, dogs without severe behavioral issues) before people get a chance to adopt them. If you're looking for an easy to care for dog, this is not the place. I met a dog that I really liked and was told to come back 2 days later because it was on stray hold. 2 days later I called them when they opened, and they said it went to a rescue group. They sent me in circles on the phone and email trying to figure out which rescue the dog went to, until they finally told me that they can't tell me which rescue (they could've told me on my first call to save me some time). It's really frustrating. However, it's not fully the fault of the BARC. The rescues make money by getting the most adoptable dogs before people can adopt them, leaving the unadoptable ones to be euthanized. They doll up the adoptable ones and charge you upward to $400. It's really disheartening.

My little rescue, Lucky, came from here. They also did his neutering. I’ve had him a little over a year now and we are inseparable. They do good work. If you want a pet, adopt, don’t buy.
