Description Metropolitan Animal Emergency and Specialty Center is Rockville’s pet care answer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We combine the passionate care you are accustomed to from your primary care veterinarian with the precision and effectiveness emergency veterinary care requires.
My family and I chose to put our dog of 10 years down yesterday. The staff members and veterinarians were very patient, professional, and compassionate throughout the whole experience. Thank you for giving us a comfortable and supportive setting to say our final goodbyes to Blue.
This is my second time here. (Unfortunately) But I’m so very pleased with the care my Bandito received. Dr. Edward’s and Gayle ( I hope they get to read this) were responsive to all my questions and concerns. I appreciated their honesty, guidance, and how much they helped ease my anxiety. Gayle is just an angel! It’s nice to feel seen when you feel like your whole world is falling down. Just the confirmation she was a call away really made going home a lot easier to care for my boy. - 1 star as I always feel like these places are extremely pricey (my opinion)
Metropolitan saved my puppy’s life! If you are reading this, you are probably in an emergency situation and trying to figure out the best odds for your pet. Go here. I had never been here before but am so glad this is the place I chose. The vets and vet techs are amazing - always there, highly communicative, and it is clear that they love animals. They make sure you approve charges in advance. If your pet has to be admitted, they contact you at least twice per day and you can call or visit whenever you want - and they respond immediately. My dog went from near death (due to a virus), to stable and happy in 4 days. These people rock.
We had to bring our dog here last night for a dew claw injury. We were able to be seen fairly quickly and Pax was given good treatment. Discharge did take some time but that’s how things go at the ER. Discharge instructions were clear and easy to understand. They have everything printed and in a nice folder to give to our vet when we go for a follow up. Price was reasonable and fair for emergency service.
This animal hospital has treated our dog multiple times for incidents that have happened late evenings and weekends. Specifically, the veterinary tech Juan treated our dog with gentle care, kindness, and expediency during our most recent, and always unplanned, visit. We feel lucky to have this emergency vet clinic in our neighborhood. While I hope we do not have to return any time soon, this has been and will continue to be the first place we will go if we have an after-hours pet emergency.
I've reviewed this place before and given it a bad review. That happened during COVID and it was a very bad time for everyone. I'm still very stung by that experience, but I've since had newer experiences that have overshadowed the previous. On a recent Sunday morning, my not-quite-three year old cat tried to use the litter box and could not, and when I attempted to gently feel his midsection, he reacted very strongly. I took him to Metropolitan Emergency Animal Hospital, where he was seen by Ashley Hopkins, DVM. He had crystals and a blockage, which they surgically cleared, then kept him catheterized overnight in the hospital. The staff said that he was a gentle little kitty in their care, which I know he is. That tells me they treated him well. He came home Monday evening, a little out of sorts and a tiny bit shaved, but otherwise in perfect health. I've been keeping a close eye on him and he's been doing great ever since. Thank you, Doctor Hopkins, and the Metropolitan Animal Emergency Hospital care team, very much.
