Description Bideawee is one of the oldest no-kill animal welfare organizations and pet adoption agencies in the country. Established in 1903, Bideawee creates and strengthens the human-animal bond through best-in-class lifesaving & compassionate care for pets & the people who love them. In more than 120 years of service, we have found homes for thousands of pets that once had little hope for survival. Our programs – adoption, behavior training and counseling, veterinary care, pet therapy, and our Pet Memorial Parks – support pets through every life stage, as well as help their owners gain better understanding of the companion animals in their lives.

Adopted my sweet baby Ribbon here and she is quite literally the perfect dog. HUGE shoutout to two staff members in particular Abby and Olivia for making this process smoother than I ever could’ve imagined. From the very beginning they have both made (and continue to make) the entire experience of adopting my precious pup so welcoming and were very informative answering most of my list of questions before I even asked! They even sent me with a couple little outfits and some starter supplies for my first several days as I am still ordering things and figuring out what she needs. She even had some minor health needs (spay and two teeth pulled) which Bideawee was able to examine and take care of before the adoption so I could be sure she was fully ready to go off the bat. I could seriously go on, but bottom line is if you are considering adopting a pet, especially as a first time pet owner, consider visiting the animals/staff at Bideawee - they are truly the best and supportive beyond belief! <3
We adopted our puppy at Bideawee 6 years ago when they were on the east side. The staff was very kind and it was a very efficient process. They have a large selection of both cats and dogs, including lots of puppies! The new location in Chelsea is beautiful and they have a lot of fostered dogs available for adoption as well.
I adopted Emerson from here last week and was welcomed by a lovely staff! Everyone was really sweet and helpful, informative, and attentive during the adoption process. I loved the atmosphere so much, I knew my pup was coming from a nice space.
Thank you so much for bringing Pepper to our family! The adoption process was super easy and the Bideawee staff were so kind and thorough. I can't recommend this establishment enough. We are looking forward to many happy years and hikes with our new pup!
I cannot express enough how grateful we are to Bideawee for bringing our beloved dog, into our lives. We traveled two hours to meet the team in Patchogue, New York, and it was absolutely worth it. From the moment we walked through the doors, we were met with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and a dedicated team of staff and volunteers who genuinely care about the animals. The adoption process was seamless, with knowledgeable staff, thank you Ben for guiding us through every step. He took the time to understand our lifestyle and needs, helping us find the perfect match. Squash has brought so much joy and love into our home, and we couldn’t imagine our lives without him. Bideawee’s commitment to animal welfare is truly commendable. It’s clear that they not only rescue and care for animals but also prioritize finding them loving homes. We highly recommend Bideawee to anyone looking to adopt. Thank you, Bideawee, for making our family complete!
I adopted my puppy from the Bideawee in Manhattan. The women that worked there were an absolute joy to work with. They covered everything a new puppy owner needed to know, plus more. They told me that I needed a harness, so they gave me the one she was wearing and the matching lease. Even sent me home with a bag full of toys. I have another dog that they asked me to bring in so they could see them together and it went perfectly. I can’t say how impressed I was treated and it made my adoption process so unstressed. Now I have a beautiful new baby to love. I adopted her on 5/24, the name she had was Bridget, her new name is Eclipse.
