Pound hounds is a joke. People have pledged hundreds of dollars sometimes 1000s and Donna has put the dog down she has literally collected pledges on dogs who have died. Enough is Enough people , stop giving pledges to pound hounds. All other rescues are fine, they are not scammers
I do not recommend working with this Shelter.. As much as all these lovely furry friends need a home the women behind the scenes is not worth the heartache. We were approved to meet and adopt a new guy when the “emails got crossed” and the dog was adopted. It took me emailing multiple times just to get this news. Jessica is a sweet heart, she really tried her hardest to help us on the journey but whom ever is in charge, doesn’t seem to have the common courtesy to write out emails and let people know of the situation in its entirety.
Update: Their response of "FALSE/FRAUD" is incorrect. This was all very much real. Best of luck! I began my journey to finding another rescue pup about a month ago. I came across a listing for a dog on Petfinder named Thor. He was from Pounds Hounds Res-Q. I reached out, and the responsiveness from the shelter was a huge issue. Three weeks I spent doing follow-ups and even reaching out Instagram, just to receive very little and unhelpful responses. Initially, I was given an email address for Thor's foster. After multiple attempts to reach the foster, nothing came back. I reached out to the Founder of Pounds Hounds Res-Q for assistance and I received the reply of "I don't know why she's not getting back to you." After a few more follow ups with the Founder, she provided a phone number. I spoke with the foster who then told me that the dog I was interested in (listed as 5 years old on the website) was actually between 10-11 years old and had been in this foster home for 8 years. The foster said they would not be comfortable letting this dog into another home at such an advanced age. I understood. Shortly after this happened, Thor was removed from their website, still with no acknowledgment or update from the rescue team. In the end, I'm saddened that I spent a month attempting to meet & potentially adopt a dog and was then faced with an extreme lack of response, assistance or transparency. I will not be working with this rescue again.
We took a dog based on their description and within two days I was bitten six times and my husband twice. My hand got infected and required a dr and meds When I saw the assessment from the shelter, he was described as anxious, biter and not to be with children. We told rescue we had young grands and that didn’t seem to matter. To make it worse, the dog was a New Hope, free to the rescue with all vetting done. They charged us $500 for him. I strongly recommend staying away from these people. Photos of both hands, bloody and bruised
I'm happy to donate and support Pound Hounds. They rescue dogs out of a very high kill shelter in NYC. Animal rescue is not easy yet can be so rewarding. I will continue to support you through Keith Olberman's efforts.
Working with Pound Hounds has been one of the most rewarding things I have done besides my children and caring for the elderly! I started out fostering a dog 3 years ago named Luna and she was just the perfect dog. I was amazed at how well Donna had paired up this dog with my family. She ended up being a great nanny dog which my children absolutely love! We had to adopt her and she will stay with us furever. Since Donna was so great to work with we decided to continue to have one foster after we adopted Luna. If the dogs ever need anything from vetting to training Donna is always there to make sure the dogs come first!
