Description Best Friends Animal Society is on the ground in New York City, helping to save the lives of homeless pets and supporting other organizations in their efforts to make New York no-kill permanently. Every day, nearly 2,200 dogs and cats are killed in shelters across the country - but with Best Friends Animal Society leading the way, and your support, we can help our nation's shelters and Save Them All. The Best Friends Lifesaving Center in New York City serves as both a space for local pets to find homes, and an outlet for the national no-kill message, helping to spread the word about Best Friends’ efforts to lead the country to no-kill by 2025.

We adopted little Pumpkin two weeks ago and we are so happy we made that decision. The shelter was so nice and everything is so clean. All the staff there were friendly and helpful, they go through every single thing in detail and also send pumpkin’s history to me right away. Pumpkin is so adorable and playful, she always full of energy and loves to run like bunnies at home. The first few days at home were an adjustment for us, but now she becomes a best friend of her big brother, Jimmy. I truly encourage anyone thinking about getting a pet to adopt, you can get a chance to visit “Best Friends Animal Society ”, you will love there.
I went there to find a cat and had a wonderful experience I was extremely nervous and multiple people told me about the cats their personality. It was a great experience. You can even go in just to pet the cats! I adopted a wonderful cat Katniss with the help of a worker Jasmine she was wonderful and went above and beyond. I also love the fact this place takes in the overflow from other shelters. All the animals are so cared for and vaccinated, fixed, and chipped! They have adoption events and you can even foster to adopt. Really a wonderful experience and I can't thank Jasmine enough for all her help.
Had a wonderful Foster and Adoption experience here. I started fostering Fly and then decided to adopt him last month. All the staff at the shelter were very friendly and nice (compared with some bad experiences I had at another shelter, will not say the name here). The foster team (Leah) was really helpful and I can tell they truly cared about the animals. Also they responded to my emails very fast.
I adopted my kitten Catalina (formerly known as Milly) from this shelter and the staff here are absolutely friendly. The adoption process is very quick and efficient. It took an hour for the adoption process and I got to take my kitten home the same day.The place is well maintained and clean. I am very satisfied with the service.
Came in on a Saturday to look at the cats they had up for adoption, we took our time finding the perfect fit for our family and had help with any questions from staff/volunteers. We had a great experience with signing off on paperwork and a nice explanation with administering his medicine. I even got a voucher for a $25 first vet visit and a bag of food. This is Mickey.
Place is clean, furries (animals) well taken care of. Animals info well displayed, cages well suited for them.
