Called to try and get my pup in for a limping leg and the person I spoke with was super sweet, then called me back and said they couldn’t accommodate him for what he would need and they recommend another vet! How do they know without even seeing my pup that it isn’t a super simple fix? Now I’m stuck trying to call around all day so he’s not in pain! Pretty upsetting and feel like it always has something do with the fact that big boy is 150 pounds! 😟
We have 4 cats and have always had at least 2 cats. We have been using Four Paws for many years and always have been treated very well. Even when we have a cat that is at that point in its life that it needs to be put to sleep they treat it respectfully. We have used other vets in the past but our choice is Four Paws both for the animal and us.
We needed to find a new veterinarian after moving to the area. I selected Four Paws for a few reasons: - personal recommendations from neighbors. - the existing relationship and community service with FredSPCA. - close and easily accessible location. I'm going to stay with Four Paws for these reasons, plus: - the staff, from reception to veterinarian, was exceptional, caring, informative, pleasant, and detailed. - the facility is warm, welcoming, well set up, and very clean! - no upsell! The medical staff made no effort to add unnecessary tests, meds, or services beyond what the visit required. - overall pleasant, low stress experience. We have multiple pets and loved our previous animal hospital, so it has been difficult to make the change. I definitely wouldn't want to start with a big medical problem, so seeing how they handle a relatively routine illness was a great measure for how the bigger issues would be handled. We look forward to future care through Four Paws.
The staff at four paws treat each of my animals like they are a part of their family. The staff knows my animals by name and understand each of their personalities. By far, Four Paws is the best Vet I have ever used. Thank you Dr. K, Rach, Beth, and all of the staff for the personal care you give all my fur babies.
Edit after 4 visits: Look, I know they want money, but I want what is BEST for my pets. I took a video of my cat chewing her face weird and the vet said "I will look at that later" and never did. My cat was rescued from under an A/C unit a few months back and it was jumping all over my furniture and having a great life until I started taking her here. Now she cannot jump up a few feet, and they said that's probably arthritis.. ok but she was fine a couple months ago?? Also she still sprints up the stairs just fine still. Ever since the 1st vet visit she has been acting weird, and they found a heart murmur on the second visit, but not the 2st or 3rd visit with full exam. Now they are finding it again on the 4th visit (since July, it's been less than 6 months for 4 visits). On the 3rd visit I got blood work taken. They said, "she didn't bleed that well from the one side, so we had to do the other side." The bloodwork showed she was healthy. The vet on the 3rd visit said if I wanted an x-ray I could change my mind and do one later. When I called later to get the x-ray they said it was more than 30 days so they would have to examine her again for another exam fee even though it's the same issue. Fine, but every single visit they try to give you a $500 bill somehow. Now she needs a $2000+ surgery, or hospitalization for over $1000 at least. This is how they explained that: Her stomach looks "weird" and since she wasn't eating much the stomach looked larger than it should. She has a fever and was brought in for vomitting. She has abdonimal pain when pressed. They never said she had gastroenteritis which is what she clearly has! I'm so upset about this it's unreal they wanted to just hospitalize her or give her surgery. I hope I can find a vet that actually pays attention to my pets with compassion and love because they will get my money. They examined her the first time and said "Even old cats can have healthy teeth" and they could not tell me her age because of that. This time they said she had really bad teeth and must be like 8 years or older! They are all over the place with diagnosis and prognosis, it's unreal. Also, send me home with toothpaste and teach me about that then! If they want my money take it for the right reasons! This time I told them I had a video of my cat biting the air in a weird way. The vet said " I will look at that later" and never even looked at it! They said she ate something she shouldn't have and I explained that this cat won't even eat human food or anything weird ever, she's just not like that. Plus we have her under video surveilance 24/7 and she doesn't get into anything. She loves her pet food and that's it. She clearly has gastroenteritis and they never even gave her antibiotics! After doing the x-ray I asked if she should get the bloodwork and they said no, this new different $500 bill was the new prognosis with fluids and meds being give (but no antibiotic). Also, if her stomach looked weird why didn't they suggest another x-ray to recheck it before a $2000 surgery? I would do it if she really needed it, but this place is an absolute scam with no concrete answers and I do not trust them. The fact that they did not give anibiotics or consider gastroenteritis or give a second x-ray after a fasting period to be sure they need to open her up and remove something.. that really bothered me! I cannot believe this place is so pushy and all over the place with everything. Charge me all the money, but for the right reasons, ok?! Old review: I took my new cat here and for all the tests and everything they did it was a great price and they were so kind there. I really enjoyed taking her to this location and felt she was in good hands. It was strange they don't let you see the pet get shots, but I assume they have only 1 sterile room they like to do it in or something. After the vet my cat was relaxed, and they gave her plenty of room to move around in a safe environment while she was there. I'm so happy I chose this vet randomly on google because they are really kind and knowledgeable.
Before taking our cat to Four Paws, a visit to the vet was an anxious time for both our cat and us. At the previous clinic a member of the staff would come in with a blanket and gloves to take him out of the carrier, which would terrify him to the point that he would pee on himself, every time. However, at Four Paws our cat was allowed to come out of the carrier on his own and explore his surroundings. they were patient and treated him as he was part of their family. After a few minutes of exploring and sniffing around he allowed them to put him on the scale, examine him, and even draw blood. Needless to say it was a great experience for us and our cat.
