We LOVE Old Dominion Humane Society! We have adopted two of our dogs from this rescue and can’t say enough good things about them. They are very honest about the dogs in their care. They want them to go to the best homes and they always share as much as they can about the dogs to help ensure it’s a good match. They have a great crew of volunteers who are always out at local events in the community to promote adoptable dogs and puppies. If you’re thinking of adopting, this is a great rescue to adopt from! Once you’ve adopted, you can join the ODHS Alumni page to share pictures of your adopted dog and get support from the ODHS Alumni community. Old Dominion Humane Society is also very responsive if you have questions about adopting or if you need support after you’ve adopted one of their dogs. I highly recommend this rescue!

This is truly an amazing place that genuinely cares for its dogs and ensures they receive the best quality care they can receive while wait for their forever family. I have adopted 2 dogs from ODHS and they have been nothing but wonderful. I adopted my first pup in November of 2023. Once I realized I wanted a second, I contacted Old Dominion and Chrissy matched up my current dog with the perfect fur sibling. The organization is always willing to answer questions I have about training, food, treats, etc. I would highly recommend adopting from here when looking for a new fur baby!

This place was a blast and great for a birthday party! The puppies were absolutely adorable and playful. It was cute to watch the kids play with them. All the puppies were well behaved although the staff warned us puppies are puppies and accidents can happen. The staff were all very friendly and gave a speech in the beginning on the do's and don'ts of puppy handling. The were very attentive to the inevitable accident by the puppies. They let us decorate before hand and managed the time well. I'd highly recommend them for kids birthday parties AND for adopting your next puppy!!

Old Dominion Humane Society is a great organization, and I highly recommend adopting a dog from here! Numerous friends, family members, and coworkers have had a great experience with this rescue. The application and adoption process is great, and volunteers help adopters via email every step of the way. ODHS is extremely transparent about dogs’ health and history, and helps to match adopters with dogs that fit their lifestyle. Their mission is incredible and they do so much for dogs and for the community. Old Dominion Humane Society is wonderful!

We have adopted 3 dogs and fostered many from ODHS. We have had no problems at all with the process of things and with the staff. I recommend coming here to adopt a dog! They have dogs for all types of people. Also look into fostering! I know they could use the extra space to put other dogs!
