Description To provide the best possible care for your pets, The Village Veterinarian combines state-of-the-art Western veterinary modalities with holistic healing principles. These include behavioral counseling, dietary counseling, acupuncture, homeopathy, and herbal remedies. Although combining these seemingly contradictory approaches may appear unusual, two decades of experience treating animals with this combination has proven to us that holistic therapies can greatly augment the effectiveness of modern veterinary medicine.
We decided to give this Vet a try, and I found it to be one of the best. The staff is so amazing and caring. We have a Shiba that is difficult to handle and they were gentle, loving and open with communication through all of it. Our dog hates going to the vet and puts up a fight, so it’s important to find the right place that understands her breed and temperament. The staff held her while the doctor gave her a check up, and I felt right at home. I can’t say enough about how incredible it is to find a place that treats you with respect as well as your pet.
The office itself and staff were very friendly and accommodating in person and over the phone. However I was not entirely satisfied with my pets examination - he was very sick and given antibiotics and for his two week check up I was told he was up to date on everything and was better and looked fine. About a week later the same issues started happening and the village vet didn’t have availability to see him for a while, so I brought him somewhere else where I was told that he was missing vaccinations, his infection never healed, and the medications he was given were not meant for the infection that he had. As friendly as the staff was, this was very concerning to hear as a first time cat owner. I would have appreciated a more thorough check and further knowledge about what was wrong and how it could be fixed. It felt like a very quick, unthoughtful visit, which is why I believe he was still so sick just a week later.
My dog has been on medication for allergies for years. I take him for his annual every year. It’s been six months and when I went for a refill they wanted me to see the Vet in order to get the refill med. I explained that I did not have the money to see the Vet and pay for the medication that cost 90+ . So they tell me he needs blood work to make sure the medication hasn’t affected his organs. If the Vet thought it was necessary to do blood work they would have requested to draw blood and didn’t two years in a row. My dog is healthy and all was normal in July’s annual but the head tech insisted he needed blood work in order to get a refill for medication he has been on for 8 years. The cost for just blood work alone ranged from 250 to 350 plus the medication90+. I told her I didn’t have money to do all that. I asked to speak to a Vet or the head person and the respond was that they are transitioning and there was no one I could speak to but the head tech. Yet, there was someone seeings clients. The head tech was being told the prices and info from one of the receptionist so she must be part of the new transition. If a dog is diabetic or has heart problems or has been sick yes then they should be checked and have blood work done. But for allergy pills and the dog is healthy its unnecessary. My conclusion, they just want the money and are not focusing on the dog’s best interest cause without my dogs medication the itching is really bad. Do you think she tried to help or speak to the person seeing clients. No Way. I left and don’t plan to take my dog back to them. I never liked that each time you go it’s a different Vet.
I started with them, three? Years ago. Then they were awesome, flexible, professional, communicative, polite. Now communication is terrible, its like the vet techs, receptionists, and doctors are not on the same page. Whether I call or come in the receptionist is rude and overwhelmed, and I can be on hold or waiting for a callback for thirty minutes or more. I like that they obsess over your animal, but the amount of inflexibility and rudeness they have around it makes it feel more like I have a cop rather than a partner in taking care of them.
I have been going to Village Vet for years. When My Missy was sick, they were great and when her time came Dr. Murphy was an angel. They have been taking care of Tiny Girl since she came and have been thorough and upfront. Never trying to have me take any un-necessary procedures. They are a neighborhood institution, and I am quite happy with them, through two dogs, and a number of years.
I would like to share my experience with Village Vet and their team. I took my very ill fur son ‘Loyalty’ for care @ Village Vet and the vet was extremely caring to my dog. The vet and a staff member named Nina treated my dog as if it was their dog. They tried so hard to keep my dog alive, they ran tests after tests. Nina was so knowledgeable, I assumed she was a vet, she assisted the vet so professionally and patient. They kept my dog for a few nights to work on keeping him alive. I remember Nina calling me and updating me on all his labs and his progress, one night she called me and stood on the phone with me as I cried and cried for my dog. She told me they are trying their best. When the final day came for Loyalty to get put down, they called me with such pain in their voice, I knew they tried all they can. Nina and the vet allowed us to spend time with him before he goes over the rainbow bridge. I have owned dogs my entire life and Ive been to countless vet clinics, hospitals etc and Village Vet is the best!!! The way they treated my fur son and the genuine display of concern surpassed my expectations. I would like to thank the entire staff, special gratitude to Nina and the vet.
