We love Mount Pleasant Animal Hospital. Everyone here is kind and caring and treat Luna like she is their own pet. We are glad we found this awesome group of people to care for her.
They charge over $100 just for a basic 10 minute office visit, not including any meds. I've never seen such an expensive vet. My dog got a couple fleas and needed something for the itch. They tried to charge me about $35 for 1 Sentinel Spectrum tablet (costs $12 online) and about $75 for some anti-itch meds. I agree with the other review that they are out more for money than for your well-being. They also wanted to do a stool test, even though my dog had one 6 months ago. They try to rack up the bill as high as possible. With all the other vets around, I can't recommend Mount Pleasant Animal Hospital. Update after their response: My complaint was about their ridiculously high charges, and they responded some B.S. about they care about my dog and fleas are bad. What does that have to do with the crazy charges? Clearly they're just trying to write something that will make them look good.
THE BEST. Their staff is fantastic. Alex at the front is good people. Dr. Hill and my dog Charlie are besties. She’s so good with him and anytime he needs help they have always been there. I also appreciate it because they explain everything from head to toe and don’t leave any information out. This practice is owned by the Shulers and there is definitely a reason why they have multiple locations. Because they’re fantastic at what they do!!!!
We have had a great experience with Mount Pleasant Animal Hospital with our two dachshund puppies. We went in for an initial visit and they were very thorough in asking questions to make sure they provided the best care possible. They both got neutered there and were well cared for the day and we were well informed of their status throughout. The boys even got recovery suits post-surgery so that they didn’t have to wear cones! They have been great and we are glad to have them as our new vet!
Our dogs love coming here. Best staff and vets in the Charleston area. We’ll always bring our dogs here.
I went twice. I took my pair of Tibetan spaniel adults and then my new Shitzu puppy. I feel the vet is profit and procedure driven and the pets come second to revenue. A check for my adults ran one over 1,200.00. I asked for a basic check since we were getting a new puppy. One adult was said to have heart murmur. This has never been the case for him and he is 8 going on 9. The puppy visit is what upset me most. I asked for Parvo only as my breeder suggested. I was told my 3 lb dog needed 4 more Parvo shots, each 2 weeks apart at each visit $164.00 (260. plus 646. just for Parvo.) Additionally, I was told my dog may have a heart murmur which would need testing which may be a birth defect. I received samples of medication again, not suggested by other vets or my breeder. This is unnecessary and excessive. My pup is healthy and from a great breeder. Of all other 5 puppies from the same litter that went for appointments, none of the vets required 4 additional Parvo shots or suggested additional tests based on a possible murmur or heart issue. 2 of 3 of my dogs from totally different backgrounds and ages had murmurs? I think the clinic has heart equipment to pay for. No 3 lb pup needs to start his life in the care of excessive and unnecessary treatments and medications. Also, I will not neuter him at 6 months as suggested. Again, more reliable vets say waiting until his little parts drop and his hormones are developed can give a male longevity. Female pups are different. Again, too quick to get procedures done. I am sending their records to a better vet. Both times the vet said she heard “heart murmurs” one in an adult and in the puppy that needed further investigation and tests.
