Thrust into a broken system when we found 2 puppies in the woods. We were directed to take them to Smith County Animal Control where we were turned away. There was even a sign in the window stating No Public Drop Offs. We asked if we should release the puppies back into the wild and they said to call shelters. We'll shelters are telling us to call Smith County. Upon taking them to a nearby shelter, they told us that Smith County has to take them and that they are lying. The system seems very broken because no one wanted to take these animals so I will be less likely to try and intervene next time.
Maybe smith county animal control will care to help the public when somebody crashes and dies because of a stray dog they refuse to remove from the road. They will tell you that they will only help you if a dog has bitten you. They will tell you that they cannot give you a day or even week estimate as to when you could expect their “help”. They have now told us that a stray dog in the road is “a public service” and they will not help. I’m extremely concerned for the blatant disrespect of helpful community members and lack of willingness to perform a “public service”. I guess I’m confused as to what their jobs are in the first place then. Neighbors have even offered to take in the stray if they would simply help them catch the dog and get him out of the road for everyone’s safety. Smith county animal control does not want to help you, they want you to do their job for them.
Took 4 weeks for them to get a dog my neighbor left. The dog was terrorizing my pets killing my cats. I had to call every day just about. They don’t do their best to get strays. They will also have you call other people that have nothing to do with animal control because there to lazy to actually come get the dog. Then would say they don’t see the dog. I seen that dog every day he would even chase my car. Poor service. lack of care. My poor baby’s would still be alive if they would have did the job correctly. If you live in the north they will not take it seriously, but south Tyler oh best believe they gonna get that dog that day.
Had a pitvukl that was way too aggressive around other dogs, had to call 911 to get him picked up for animal control as it was after hours. They were here within minutes. That's to the boys and girls in blue. Animal controls after hours saviors.
It's been 5 months since I picked Brody up at the shelter. It took some time for him to come around but he did. He is one happy dog now.
If I could give 0 stars I would. Garbage place won't help at all. Terrible customer service they need to be fired
