Tried my hardest to adopt from here as my mom has two wonderful rescues from Nicholas Pet Haven. Did the application for several dogs, tried calling on the hour every hour during Normal hours, and eventually tried stopping by to speak to someone. When we walked in (myself, my wife and my two small boys) the place itself was severely cramped and reeked of feces and urine. I get being a small rescue with limited funds, but if you can’t afford it, don’t do it! Anyways, the lady who was inside was rude to us, and very snappy. Told us we weren’t allowed to be there, they aren’t open and it’s appointment only. I tried explaining why I came by, but she didn’t care and very dismissively waved my questions off. I am now the happy owner of a rescued Australian Shepherd, and gladly giving donations to other shelters who actually care. Nicholas Pet Haven has time to post “sad” stories on Facebook and constantly beg for money or donations, but doesn’t have the time to connect with community members looking to adopt and/or donate.

Good luck getting them to answer your calls or emails. I applied for a dog 2 weeks ago and haven’t heard anything. I’ve called numerous times and left voicemails. I heard they’re understaffed but you’d think a shelter would be willing to at least pick up the phone to help rehome their pets! I work from home, I can’t just drive to the shelter during the 4 hours they’re open, so it would be nice to just schedule an appointment or hear back on whether or not I was approved. I’m checking daily and it’s just crickets. They also have two different phone numbers on Google and their website! Neither of them have a set up voicemail so I don’t even know if I’m calling the right people. I have the space, the time, and the care to give a doggie a wonderful life. I was really looking forward to adopting from them because I’ve heard decent things about Nicholas Pet Haven, but I guess it’s just not meant to be. They have the time to post on FB but not return calls or emails…

I had some dogs that I needed homes for. They sent one to Colorado. The rest she wouldn't help me. I explained to her I was moving to a senior apt. I still have 3. To find homes for. They don't call u. I can't take care of them and the ones I talked to there said oh well sorry. Then hung and they block me.
