We love Dr. Barbara Kalvig and this practice. Sadly just had to switch locations due to moving. I combed through so many different vets/reviews before making my first appointment here and highly recommend. My dog was so excited to come to the vet each time, which has been the opposite experience at other locations where he is shaking and extremely anxious. The office is clean and staff/vet are communicative, gentle, and intelligent. All my emails and calls were answered quickly. Kevin especially was great - so kind, caring, and patient. Thank you K&S!

In the frost-kissed days of December 2023, I stepped into Kalvig & Shorter’s embrace, Near my apartment, where the city hums, And my dog’s ailment weighed heavy on my heart. The sterile walls whispered secrets, As I stood outside the exam room, Forbidden from comforting my furry companion, A BIG problem etched in my furrowed brow. Intake records, a haphazard dance of ink and paper, A sloppy waltz that left me disconcerted, And my plea for a dental evaluation, Lost in the labyrinth of administrative oversight. Then came the $189 blood test, A clandestine affair conducted without my consent, Its results veiled in silence, Like a cryptic riddle left unanswered. Did the vials of crimson liquid ever meet the lab’s scrutiny? Or did they languish forgotten, Lost in the shuffle of paperwork and bureaucracy? Another problem, another knot in my stomach. And oh, the audacity! Kalvig & Shorter, with their white coats and stethoscopes, Dared to solicit my review, As if my words could mend the fractures in their system. I claimed a $189 refund, A plea echoing through the corridors of justice, Lodged in the heart of the NYC Small Claims Court, Where grievances find solace in legal proceedings. July 2024 looms, a date etched in anticipation, When the scales of justice will sway, And I, a petitioner in this courtroom drama, Seek recompense for my canine companion’s woes. Yet, K&S’s email arrived, a curious twist, Claiming they’d mailed a check, A phantom promise that eluded my mailbox, Yet another oops, lost in the ether. Two weeks have slipped by, Silence echoing in the void, As I wait, my patience fraying, For the echo of resolution to pierce the stillness. Kalvig & Shorter, your saga unfolds, A tapestry woven with missteps and mysteries, And I, a weary traveler, stand at the crossroads, Awaiting the denouement of this veterinary odyssey. -- Cynthia Kienzle / Copilot

Most friendly and caring vet I have ever been to. My dog is very timid and scared at the vet and they did a great job of making her feel safe and letting me feel comfortable as well!

K&S are a new veterinarian practice for our dog and newly rescued kitten. All the doctors that we have dealt with from Dr. Kalvig, Dr. Aranow , and Dr. Shorter have been absolutely fantastic with our fur babies. They helped us in quick fashion with international travel papers for our dog and have been just absolutely wonderful to deal with during our visits. They also have professional and fabulous staff. All in all, we are very happy to have them as our veterinarians and couldn’t recommend them enough.

My 3-year old Shichon has been a happy patient of this vet practice during my business trips to New York City. The veterinarians we have seen have all been super kind and knowledgeable, and everyone has been really helpful to us while traveling. The level of service and compassion that this group provides to people and their pets (I know many of them) is excellent. I appreciate their follow-up calls to check on Quincy after each visit while they provide prompt f/u information to my regular vet back home. I feel so lucky that one of my co-workers referred me to KSV!
