The clinic is fabulous and the doctors are compassionate and caring. The vet tech was a dream and made all of my little boy's first visit to his new vet a painless, easy, and smooth process. I want to add - based on the negative reviews that I'm reading below - that the tech and the doctor spent a LOT of time with the dog I recently brought in and, moreover, spend even more time with my very very anxious, special-needs older dog. They take so much care and concern for the time they spend with your pet that Dr Torchia blocks two appointments when my nervous dog comes in. He doesn't get paid extra for that - he just cares about giving her the best quality. Across the staff, the above is consistent with the experience I see and get from this establishment. I'm an executive at a (human) healthcare provider in the city and am fastidiously attuned to the operations of clinics. I would hire any of the people I encountered in a second based on my interactions today and in all prior visits.

Before we adopted our puppy, Sonny, my husband and I visited four different vets in the neighborhood. From the moment we stepped inside the door to Heart of Chelsea, we got a good feeling about the place - not just because it’s such a well organized, “together” clinic, but mainly because of the people who work there. From the friendly front desk staff, to the dedicated veterinary assistants and knowledgeable vets, most everyone we’ve come into contact with here is professional, well-trained, and committed to providing compassionate care for animals. Plus they’re easy to reach, either by phone or email, and are generous with their time. So even though Heart of Chelsea is more expensive than other neighborhood vets, (it’s definitely a stretch for our budget being that we’re semi-retired performing artists) the quality of care we receive from them is well worth it. Since this is our first time raising a pup, (and turns out our little guy is very sensitive in nature – from his G.I. system to the way he experiences the world,) I especially appreciate the staff’s understanding when it comes to the human side of the equation, i.e., the emotional ups and downs that go along with the territory. In this regard, I would especially like to thank Sunny (they, them, their(s,) the veterinary assistant who we met at our first appointment 18 months ago. Whether we consult with them in person, or over the phone, they listen to our concerns with patience, kindness and genuine caring. By the end of our conversations, they always come up with practical, helpful suggestions that are based on a wealth of information and experience. Put simply, his sensitivity to our family had felt like a lifeline of support. The vets we’ve worked with so far, mainly Dr. Torchia and Dr. Profido are both excellent. I especially appreciate Dr. Torchia‘s mindset that one size doesn’t fit all - he has been both open and supportive of our life style choices concerning treatment and ongoing care for our pup. Dr. Profido’s emphasis on the educational component of our visits have been tremendously beneficial, i.e., by providing clear information and options, we’ve been able to make informed decisions that best suit our family’s needs. Also of note is the very positive experience we’ve had with Jen Abitino, the pet insurance specialist who helped us find a plan that would work for us. She’s also incredibly efficient about submitting our claims, and a pleasure to work with. Finally, this review would be incomplete without saying that whenever I call with a question, concern or even just to make an appointment, I’m always happy when Jahaira picks up the phone at the front desk. She’s gone out of her way to make our experiences at Heart of Chelsea seamlessly supportive.

Excellent care for my Frenchie! I'm able to come to this new location or the Chelsea in a pinch if one is booked and I may have an emergency visit needed. Dr Maria Papaioannou is incredible with a great bedside manner and the entire staff is so helpful and great!

I absolutely love heart of Chelsea! When I first went in there with my little cat Tiny, she was barely eating and I could tell there was something going on with her mouth. I could tell she was in pain and all she wanted to do was sleep all the time. Also, I was worried about the finances of the situation. Everyone knows going to the Doctor, it is generally not cheap. I took her to Heart of Chelsea because it was located in my neighborhood and they were able to make an appointment the same day. From the time I walked into the door my anxiety slowly started to go away. The receptionists were very nice and handed me a clipboard to fill out all of necessary information. It wasn't an excessive amount of paperwork like some places seem to require. They had a little cooler with little bottles of water that you could take if you were feeling a little parched, and I was thirsty. That was really nice and convenient. The receptionist/assistant brought me into the room without much of a wait at all. We got to the blood work and everything started right away. They took a look at her teeth which is what we all suspected was the major issue. Dr. Torchia came in and we discussed that what she had was a disease where her teeth were bothering her and they had to be removed. Of course I was concerned about the costs, and they were very good about explaining how much everything would cost - and the cost ended up being a couple of hundred dollars cheaper than the high end of the estimate. I called around to a few other places, and even had a hard time getting some idea that's how much things would cost if they be able to see me or even if they had the equipment available to them. I decided that I really liked the way we were treated at Heart of Chelsea and decided to go to Heart of Chelsea and have them do the surgery on Tiny. Dr. Nguyen did the surgery at their 18th street location. Went smoothly, and they explained aftercare for her. Apparently Dr. Nguyen did a great job! Now she is happy, and eating, and playful, and enjoying sunshine in the window! We had a follow-up appointment yesterday. And rather than being anxiety-inducing, it was an absolute pleasure to be there. I am pretty sure Tiny likes Dr. Torchha - they even took a picture together! He's become one of my favorite people too! Since Tiny's surgery I have broken my foot. When I was there yesterday the staff was doing everything they could to help me around with my crutches, holding doors open for me everywhere and even offering to help me get a car to take me home. Incredible people work there and they go above and beyond for their customers whether their customers have two legs or four legs! I will be bringing my other two cats there as well! If you want to feel good about where you're taking your pet and you want the best possible care from people who aren't trying to rob you- go to Heart of Chelsea! You want to know where the love is? It's at Heart of Chelsea! Also, they have cool swag :)

Love this place—the care team is so considerate and kept my animals happy and comfortable. Jalyn in particular was so caring for my nervous pup, and went above and beyond in service. Highly recommend!

Wonderful vet that provides excellent care for our Pomeranian puppy. We’ve gotten all our vaccinations here and had some great advice from Dr Stilwell—Hardcastle on how to care for our puppy after he broke his leg. She recommended an excellent hospital in Allentown, PA for surgery which was very affordable. Our puppy also had great care with follow up appointments getting his splint changed with Dr Porfido. Thank you all so much for helping little Rocky grow and stay healthy 🐶❤️
