After seeing the last review, I felt the need to share my experience with this rescue. The process this rescue goes through for adoption is simple, easy to follow/understand, and allows the rescue to either match you with an animal that fits your lifestyle needs or the animal you’ve seen on their social media. This rescue does not have a physical facility, they are very transparent on all social medias that they rely on Tampa’s great community of fosters to aid in operations. They go above and beyond the call of a rescue to save the lives of precious animals, and they have never given up on saving their lives even with the odds stacked against them. I’ve seen animals beat the odds, and that is because of this rescue. (Shout out to you Wisp and Tye) As for the adoption process, I experienced it earlier this month and it was extremely straightforward. I reached out to the rescue about adopting Mako (formally known as the infamous Shortbread), and was sent a linktree link that had the adoption paperwork on it. It was an in depth, easily to fill out form that allows the reader to request a specific animal or have an animal match the lifestyle you live. We set up a meet and greet with the foster a few days later, and now I have the best car co-pilot a girl could ask for. The day of the meet and greet we only met with one of their amazing network of fosters along with Sierra (she helps run the rescue), and the love and care they have for their animals shows. I’ve known Dominque for many years (other owner of the rescue), and even before this rescue dedicated her personal money and time to help the animals in Tampa. I mean this from the bottom of my heart, I do not know someone that has the capacity for love like she shows to these animals. Now back to the meet and greet - They gave us our pups full history as we played with him. Once we said yes, they sent us on our way with plenty of starter food, his medical information history for his vet to have, and our new best friend. We immediately went on a shopping spree where he got to pick whatever toys he wanted! Mako came extremely well trained, which is a testimony that this rescue only picks the best fosters for their team. Obviously he had accidents, adjusting a 4mo old puppy to a new home can be a learning curve, but he’s fit so well into our lives. He has been nothing but a joy to our lives, and we would have never met him if it wasn’t for Rags to Riches. Now we can’t imagine life without Mako. Currently we are in a huge snuggle puddle in our bed watching tv, and we owe it all these sweet moments to this rescue. I know this was long, and thank you for sticking around this far. As a TLDR, this rescue is incredible and I now have the best pup in the entire world thanks to them. 💛

Best place in Tampa to find a pet for your home! Dominique is sweet and caring with everyone. Her and her team sacrifice to make sure those animals are taken care of. And they make sure those animals get the best and loving homes.

I’m new to fostering and have worked exclusively with Rags to Riches. Dominique and her team are amazing! Communication is open, easy and they go above and beyond to help in any way possible. Dominique carefully chooses the best homes for her rescues because she LOVES each of them. Being a part of this group and helping animals find their perfect families is such a blessing and brings me absolute JOY! Highly recommend!

I’ve worked with many animal rescues over the years, but this one stands out in amazing, deeply inspiring ways. Can’t say enough good things about the work Rags to Riches is doing to rescue homeless pets here in South Florida, where shelter animals unfortunately face euthanasia on a daily basis. Dominique runs the rescue with the expertise of a seasoned pro; she is a visionary and a powerful advocate for all pets in need. She helps the animals that are often overlooked because of medical or behavioral issues. She doesn’t shy away from the difficult cases because she believes every pet deserves love. I’ve fostered 8 animals (so far) through Rags to Riches and watched in awe at the amazing work this rescue achieves. Highly recommend!

Very passive aggressive people that do not have people or community skills. They seem to know everything and be-little the potential adopters. Good luck getting a response as well. Poor animals will remain stuck in this shelter due to lack of humane engagement. I’d try other shelters as most are a bit more organized and respectful. I would do your best to keep away from Dominique Amersoa, certainly not a kind soul.

We had so much fun with Dominique and her team at our foster/adoption party! They were more than amazing, fun to work with, and brought so much joy to the store. You can tell that everyone apart of the rescue cares deeply about each of the animals and only wants the absolute best for each of them! We highly recommend this rescue for anyone looking to add a new member to their family or for an event <3
