Last year I came to Zaksee's to drop off some donated parrot food. Little did I know that when I stepped into the Sanctuary for the first time, I would find my second home. I've been volunteering ever since.....and can confirm that Magic, the owner, does an incredible job caring for and loving the birds surrendered to him. It is a parrot sanctuary and has lots of needs, so if you have time or resources to help, make a call and set up an appointment.

This person is very infantile and has ego issues. He loves praise (look at his responces to the sweet talk); he states that their mission is "to become the best bird sanctuary". Not to give the birds a good life, but to "become the best". The reason he opened that "sanctuary" is that he wants to be loved by both parrots and people. He is a profound manipulator. He calls all the birds in his custody - including the surrendored ones - "unloved, abused and neglected", thus preliminary inflicting the sense of guilt on the owners who want to surrendor birds, to make them more willing to donate. Somehow, before e en reading the reviews, I knew he would only let the owners see their birds is they pay, and after I read negative reviews, my suspicion was confirmed. Also, on photos you can see many birds in small cages, and I was hoping that it's their dining room/bedroom, negative rewiews confirmed my worst suspicions: many birds in this "sanctuary" live in small cages. Looks like he sells the owners "a piece of mind" for thousands of dollars, and than locks the bird in the cage and lets the owner visit the bird for money. He must be recieving substantial donations from the owners and just sympathizing persones, and yet he keeps many birds in small cages and buys them the cheapest food (asks for Walmart and Target gift cards) Where do the money go? In general, it always looks suspicious when someone is too pushy about donations and especially when they are trying to manipulate/guilttrip you into donating. I was looking for a happy place for my conures whom I cannot keep due to life circumstances, but I'll keep looking... I feel bad for birds of the owners who buy indulgences from thus guy, leaving the birds at his negligence. They want to believe that their birds are happy and are willing to pay much money to sustain that belief.

Thankful for this beautiful sanctuary for God’s creatures and the man “Magic” that cares for them and works so hard.He truly is amazing and gives all his time and loves these birds with all his heart. He needs our help to support these birds and all the others he has there to feed and care for. He is a good man and he is doing a good work. I hope and pray God provides. Bless you and all you do there.

Zaksee's is a place like no other. The owner does an amazing job caring for and ensuring quality of life for the birds at the sanctuary. Magic takes the time to build a relationship with every bird under his care at Zaksee's and to deeply consider each of their needs. Birds are kept together in large flight cages when possible so they can pass the days flying free with their friends. When one may pose a potential to fight with or hurt other birds, Magic makes sure the birds are still kept next door to their friends (and even supervises play dates for them). Most of the birds came from homes that could no longer meet their needs, some of them come to Zaksee's because of behavioral issues in their previous home environment. At Zaksee's they are met where they are, loved, and lifted up. I've not seen a single unhappy bird at the sanctuary. For the safety and wellbeing of the birds Zaksee's is not open to the public. Those who are able to sponsor a bird are welcomed to come see the babies and the positive impact they're making. If you can afford to, please consider donating. Donations go towards bird food, enrichment toys, and supplies to build new aviaries to provide homes for more birds in need.

My little guy "Merlin" which I raised for 11 years, went to live at the sanctuary last March. I visit the Sanctuary every 3 months, i drive down from Destin, Fl and do volunteer work, while visiting my bird. Majik is a wonderful, caring and giving person. He devotes all of himself to the safety and health and happiness to these birds. He is truly these birds savior because without him all of these magnificent birds would have been put down or died. Majik has created a beautiful environment for these birds to thrive. I will continue to support and volunteer at such a wonderful place and person.

What Magic is doing here is unreal. Real love for these birds. After 14 years I had to recently bring my umbrella cockatoo here. I know he will be well taken care of. This was a relief as I didn't want to send him to just anywhere.
