Strong recommendation, as Ankeny Animal and Avian Clinic has been terrific when our pet required immediate attention on our initial day of living in the area. Extraordinary care and customer service, fantastic communication, and hospitality throughout the process. Fear-Free practice. Both Dr. Lentz and Dr. Stearns were outstanding, and staff members Emilee, Nat, Olivia, Jolene, Kayla, and Ashley were amazing. I am grateful for this place. Loyal moving forward.

What a wonderful experience I had with my African Grey, Zazu. From the time I called for a wellness exam to the time I left the entire staff could not have been kinder or more welcoming. Dr. Jess and the others who assisted (so sorry. I'm horrible at remembering names) handled him with care and patience. Not once did I feel like they were rushed - like so many busy clinics - but they took their time to make him comfortable and answer my questions. A positive vet experience is priceless for any pet but especially so for nervous birds. Thanks so much!

Our cat Lucy became very sick, and we needed quick help. They were very quick to see us, and brought care and compassion over the past few weeks to treat our cat's severe infection. They tested, and diagnosed the infection, then prescribed medications. I'm happy to report that Lucy is recovering. Thank you to the kind doctors and staff for saving Lucy!

I just want to give a special Thanks to Lindsey @ Avian Clinic. She went above & beyond her normal job duties in order to help a family in need. Sometimes in life we encounter special people who change this world for the better. Highly recommend you give this place a try if you’re new to the area or considering changing vets. Have faith!

UPDATE: Management/Owner called after reviewing video footage of our dogs haircut and agreed that there were no issues. They were extremely sorry and apologized. Made things right in the end and respected the call from management. Booked a grooming for our mini golden doodle due to our normal groomer being book out too far (bad planning on my part) but was recommended here by a friend so figured I would give it a shot. Was originally told it would be $70 for grooming. After dropping my dog off about 15 minutes later I received a call and they let me know it would be $85. No problems and appreciated the heads up. Went about my business and then never received a call back that grooming was done. They stated they called but I was working from home all day… never got a call but know they had my correct number from the call prior in the morning. Then to find out they only cut him “90% finished” and offered us to come back next week because our dog was over the grooming. Couldn’t finish the 10%? Literally all he had left to be done was trim his ears. Between not finishing the job and never calling me after my pups grooming was complete, we won’t be back. Who knows how long he was sitting around there after being 90% done. Not to mention we’ve used 3 different groomers in the past (2 in Iowa 1 in Michigan) and none of them have had any issues with our dog. One even commented how good he was for being such a young age. He is extremely food driven and will do anything for treats which I know they give at grooming so have a hard time believing this was an issue.

The staff at Ankeny Animal and Avian clinic is always so kind and helpful! The exams are always so thorough whether it’s because of a health issue or just a check up, which is great! The facility is so nice and set up to be fear free for everyone! We love it here!
