I adopted two kitties from AZ Rescue and had a great experience. Their forms/interviews are as substantial as any rescue, and worthwhile to ensure pets get a great forever home. Thankful to them for my beautiful kitties, Evie and B. Had them for many years now and donate often to their cause.

Ive adopted from AZ Rescue. They reviewed our application interviewed us fairly, visited our home and agreed it would be a perfect fit. (Which MOST rescues do none of - you fill out an application which they dont look at pay $300 and out the door you go.) I found the goal of finding a forever home, not just getting another animal out the door to be highly ethical. They have one of the highest Rescue retain rates (Adopters dont return the animal because they dont fit the family dynamics or they decide they cant afford to care for the pet.) which is the ultimate goal of these selfless, devoted, loving people who go through the pain and anguish and financial burden of rescuing, nurturing, caring for and fostering neglected and sick animals until they find, not just an adopter, but a forever home. Think of going to the pound every day looking at 100’s of homeless, neglected animals, not being able to rescue all of them, but only the ones you believe you can make well, AFFORD to neuter, spay, find a foster and then a forever home. Their intentions are only the best and they deserve appreciation and respect for the intense work they do. I appreciate you all, thank you for all that you do.

This is a great rescue who really works to pair the people with their forever friend. They use a multi-step process to screen the potential adopter to learn more about them and what they expect in a pet!! The volunteers really love the pets and go out of their way to make sure that they are taken care of and socialized! Highly recommend!

I too filled out an application only to be denied due to not having another cat in the house. If you look at their website 50% of their cats require another cat in the house. When I asked if we could evaluate all the criteria and perhaps see if we were an optimal fit overall without the other cat I was ignored. I just can’t understand that. Also, the animal requirements listed on their website are a joke, must professionally groom, must brush daily, etc. Also, their application asks things that are a no win no matter how you answer them, like, are you willing to pay $700 for a surgery, just how much are you willing to spend on this cat per month, etc. Honestly, this rescue has no interest in rehoming, it feels like they use the funds they get to pay for these animals to remain their pets. I’ve contacted Petco and asked them to consider looking into this “rescue” as they bring animals to their store, let people fall in love with them, and then deny them for any reason. Sad for the pets that would otherwise be loved and adored by a family. I’m guessing I’m not alone in my experience, and that others choose to not pursue it. Also note, I asked if their criteria for adoption were based on veterinary recommendation, but they are not, the requirements listed are simply the option of the person filling out the website input form.

Donated to this organization in memory of my cat, who was adopted from their organization. Requested a donation receipt so that I could submit a matching gift request from my workplace. The organization responded, indicating they do not issue gift receipts if the donation is less than a specified amount. This made me feel like the gift is not valued nor appreciated, and that my offer of trying to secure additional funds was not welcome.

We had a wonderful experience with AZ Rescue last year. They had an extensive application process which felt right, in the name of protecting the animals & finding their "forever" home. We were initially interested in a different dog than we got because they were aware of a better match for that dog who had seizures. We now look forward to a 2nd Christmas with our chi-mix furbaby, and couldn't be happier!
