Professional staff, appointments are on time always, and you can see they are truly invested in your pet and care for them as much as you do. I would recommend this place to anybody.
I would absolutely not recommend this vet practice. My dog used to be comfortable going to the vet and being handled but over time, as a result of the vet's limited patience for my sensitive dog and coercive methods, including having multiple people physically restraining him while he was very clearly way over threshold and in severe distress, he developed a deep fear of the vet. The lack of compassion shown both to my dog and to me was upsetting. Unfortunately, this experience has required a LOT of work with a certified fear free vet and R+ trainer to undo the extreme distress he now experiences at the vet.
We have enjoyed the professional, caring and friendly service at VCA. Special recognition for Maria and her team of Monica and Elaine. We highly recommend this practice.
Although curbside pick up and drop off (PANDEMIC) same wonderful care and the same wonderful staff! My baby was in completely great hands! I will never stop coming here.
We’re originally from Texas and used VCA down there so wanted to continue with them in NYC. We love MVG tons and have been bringing our two pups here for 3 years now! The service and staff are amazing and they helped out a ton when our pup got lose from his dog walker and ended up breaking a few bones in his paw. They took us in whenever they could last minute for cast changes and checkups. Highly recommend them for new pups or older ones and everything in between☺️
I usually have a great experience here, but today was awful. I brought my 24 lb mini goldendoodle in to get checked out due to itching her back leg. The vet nurse came to get us from the waiting area and Rosie simply barked at her because she hates the vet and was anxious (like most dogs?). Instead of making any attempts to say hello or demonstrate understanding that most pups do not enjoy the vet, she yelled “IS SHE ON DRUGS?!” I asked her to clarify and she said “So she isn’t violent”. I said “Violent? She’s just nervous, but she takes her trazodone in the morning for minor anxiety”. They took us back and this nurse, named Jen, stood back and asked what was wrong with her leg. I explained the itching and said Rosie won’t let me touch it. She then said “Well I doubt we’re going to have much luck in that area either”, very aggressively. She kept saying to the other nurse to “stand back”, all while Rosie was just minorly barking, not growling, not showing teeth, not lunging. I finally just said “she’s just nervous, she is not going to hurt anyone…she never has” and the nurse yelled “We have records stating otherwise”. Huh? My dog has never ever been violent toward anyone, which I explained, and stated that once a cone was on her she’d stop barking. She did this in front of another nurse as well. She went to get the Doctor and once the doctor came in, cone was on, exam performed just fine with no issues at all. Doctor was great. Nurse with pink hair was great. But the nurse, again named Jen, was awful, and 1000x more aggressive than my harmless pup. I expressed my concern, almost in tears, and the nurse with pink hair took over after I said I did not want Jen to touch my dog. Very disappointed in this interaction. It was uncomfortable, unprofessional, and needlessly dramatic and just unnecessary. I’m sure many dogs bark when they go to the vet, and I highly doubt Rosie’s chart says she is violent, despite Jen’s statement (I checked - it doesn’t). It was an awful experience and had the doctor and other nurse not been wonderful, I would have walked out before anyone touched my dog and would have not returned.
