Description The mission of Muddy Paws Rescue is to build and support a thriving community of dog-loving humans dedicated to ending unnecessary euthanasia of companion dogs. We do this through shared learning and education, direct lifesaving, and continuous innovation. Muddy Paws is foster-based, meaning it does not operate a shelter and does not have the ability to take in owner-surrenders or stray animals at their location.

Absolutely fabulous people to work with. What I loved about them was the clear and accurate information on their website about their adoptable pups. We have only had Atlas for a couple of days, but so far his behavior is EXACTLY as his foster family described.
Amazing nonprofit dog rescue in NYC. They are so diligent, thorough, and caring. The whole organization — their staff and volunteers respond very quickly and I am very reassured that they do a thorough exam of their dogs before adopting them out. Adopting my dog from Muddy Paws Rescue was amazing and we are so happy to be part of this community. Highly recommend that you register to adopt with them!
I started out with Muddypaws as a foster with my roommates, we fostered 7 dogs pre-Covid. In 2021 (after a break from fostering) I started up again and Lyla was assigned to me as a foster but I quickly realized she was home ❤️ The team was great with the transition from foster to owner and I’m so grateful! Having been on the foster and adopter side of things with MPR - I couldn’t recommend them more highly!!
After jumping through all the hoops that understandably are needed to adopt a dog, this organization did not fully inform me of the way the adoption process works. I was at their event by 10:20am—it started at 11am. I had been emailing back and forth about wanting to adopt a specific dog. When I arrived, I was told that she had no other people waiting to adopt her-I was the only one. My paperwork was reviewed and approved by 11:30am and I was told I would see her at 12pm. I asked a staff member “ is it likely that I will be able to adopt her? They said yes. I also asked if I could buy her a bandana. They said yes—or I could buy one from them as a donation…” all this to then bring the puppy out—have a ton of people touch and kiss her (which is not a great idea, given Covid and that she’s only two months)—to then give her to some other person at around 12:05pm. I was told I would be called at 12 to see her. This process was disheartening, and just plain mean. I don’t want to hear how you stand by your matchmaking blah blah…it was wrong. **Response to Muddy Paws The miscommunication between your staff is clearly evident. They should have verified where I stood in the process before saying yes to me! Had I known the process more clearly, I would have been more prepared for the outcome. I had been in communication by email and was invited to see the puppy. I traveled from Queens to meet her only to be disappointed.
Muddy paws had a Meet and greet for the adoption dogs. Met Annie the sweetest dog ever, Very calm , Beautiful, And sweet. She was basically a perfect dog for us. Muddy paws were SO KIND AND AMAZING. Definitely get your dog from here
We went to their adoption event back in September and met with a puppy that we loved. We went to their event on a whim and and were told that since we already met with the pup, we would get first priority and could set up a meeting at HQ during the week. We were so excited. We emailed that same day, days go by, no response… Finally when we did get a response, we were told that we were now second in line and that we can come to next weeks event to see what the first person in line decides. We went to the event and were crushed as we saw the first person in line take him home. If we would have known, we would have taken the dog the same day we met with him. It was very unprofessional for us to be lied to and made believe that we had high chances. Another volunteer that I explained this to simply said the person helping us did not know the rules and should have never told us we would get priority. Although I ended up adopting another pup later on and will still recommend/will adopt from muddy paws again, this experience still makes me sad. I write this review in hopes for change because muddy paws is truly saving dogs. Please provide better customer service because communication through email takes too long and there were times where I would get inaccurate responses (ex. I was told they couldn’t find my registration when I was indeed registered) and then it will take days again to get a response. And of course, I ask to please train volunteers the proper rules so that my situation will not happen to others.
