Description Anjellicle Cats Rescue (ACR) is an all-volunteer registered 501c3 cat rescue committed to helping make New York a no-kill city. As one of the most active cat rescues in the 5 boroughs, ACR is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and adopting out homeless and abandoned cats, with a focus on shelter and community animals. Through a coalition of volunteers and caregivers, each rescued cat is welcomed with kindness and medical care into a foster home to prepare it for adoption into a permanent, loving home.

They were a pleasure to work with in adopting my Mickey. The only negative I have is that I had questions after the adoption and I never really got a response to them. Otherwise, great experience and highly recommend.

We just adopted our cat Neo and had a great experience with Anjellicle! At first we were nervous because of the negative reviews but our adoption process went very smoothly. Anjellicle really seemed to care about their cats and wanted to make sure they went to good homes (hence the required references, seminar, and virtual home visit). Special thanks to Neo's foster parent who was a huge help to us as we are first time cat parents. Would recommend Anjellicle to anyone looking to adopt!

I adopted my first two cats 13 years ago from Anjellicle and they were amazing then. One cat passed recently and I was interested to adopt again through this rescue. They definitely have a thorough process for background checks, the required seminar, virtual home cat proof check and application. Those things are great to see a rescue place take seriously. I was unfortunately disappointed in the adoption process this time, looks like new people working there and the communication, overall experience was horrible. I was allowed to trial two kittens, i had an allergy to one or both cats, there was a strong odor with one. The other cat was scared, I couldn’t touch him or go near him, appeared traumatized, it was really strange-I kept asking what happened to him and all they could say is nothing, he’s had 3-4 foster homes. When I asked for the kittens to be picked up, the foster mom and admin person changed their tone with me. The foster mom was rude, disrespectful to me in my own home and yelled, mishandled the kittens trying to get them into their carriers. She very aggressive with them, told them she was going to be and then was angry towards me. Unacceptable behavior, communication and my entire apt was a mess because of her, I felt so bad for those kittens. That’s why the cat is traumatized and it’s disturbing to witness. The admin didn’t even respond to my text message or followup. The foster mom seemed to want to leave the one scared cat behind until I told her it’s her responsibility. Updated - I spoke with a program director today and she advised on how they’ll take better steps to avoid from happening again. I lost a lot of trust, so I hope they will follow through on better care for cats & better treatment towards potential adopters.

I wanted to donate to this rescue but I turned up to find it was no longer there. They need to update their address!

There's kind and devoted, and then there's unreasonable and controlling. These people struck me as the latter. I have been a pet parent since 1977, longer than most of these people have been alive. Now, I understand fosters become attached to their cats and want to make sure they go to a good home, but they already know they have them temporarily. To have home visits and to scrutinize people and behave so invasively towards people is unreasonable and unfortunately is a turn-off from choosing Anjellicle. Unfortunately, until they adjust their overly controlling behaviors towards people, and unfortunately, it's the cats who will suffer, as they will miss out on good, loving, stable homes because of the misjudgments of personnel who may love cats, but are inexperienced in dealing with potential pet parents and practical, proper caring of cats. Seems many can't see it, but they appear to be corrupt. It is quite possible they're expecting a bribe. An honest and impartial investigation should get to the bottom of this.

Extremely rude.. cautious when you deal with particularly notorious 'crazy' cat ladies, especially Ellen who is INCREDIBLY RUDE, problematic, condescending. I remember Nora from Anjellicle at Petco lied and told me that there was no public restroom at the basement of Petco. When I asked her if there was a restroom as we were both going to the restroom. She told me to go across the street at Tjmaxx to use the restroom there. Because she and I both wanted to use the restroom at the same time. So lame! Later, an employee of Petco had no problem telling me Petco indeed has a rest room, which was what I thought!
