Description T. Russell Reitz Animal Shelter is an open intake and adoption animal shelter servicing the city of Manhattan, Kansas. We take in strays and surrenders, reunite lost pets with their families, and help find homes for the homeless animals in our community. Our Animal Control Officers help enforce the laws of our community, while also protecting the pets within our community. We are a tax-funded, municipal shelter.

Super nice and helpful staff! The adoption process was easy and we were able to bring home our sweet baby Purrita. You can really tell that the staff cares about the animals in this shelter and they allowed us to get to know Purrita before we signed anything. The sweet lady that helped us even named our sweet girl and I couldn’t be happier with the kitty we adopted or the people who helped us bring her home. Thank you so much T Russell!!

This place deserves a lot more stars than 5. I got a phone call from Brandon saying someone turned in my cat. They normally don’t take animals from a different county but decided to take him in. I’m thankful they did. I didn’t even know my cat got out for he is an inside only cat. They found he was chipped and called me right away. They held on to him until I was able to get there. Brandon was amazing to deal with. I am thankful he was able to reunite us back together. This place will continue to get a donation from me monthly.

I stopped in today to visit the cats and kittens with the idea that I wanted to find a new friend for my 3 year old neutered cat and an addition to my little family. I found a clean, wonderful place with cats for adoption and a helpful and kind staff that really wanted to help me find the right pet for me. The staff are great and I found an adorable kitten that I am so happy I adopted. Great place to adopt a new family pet!

I thought it was rude of the person I was trying to give donations to to tell me to go back out through the door and put it on the shelf outside. I didn't know the process had changed.

T Russell Reitz Animal Shelter Did an awesome job with working with me to get Abigail my service dog back to me and the kind and loving treatment they gave during her surgery and recovery. I had no problems in getting her back. The staff are awesome
