Fostering for Waggytail for the past couple of years has been such a wonderful and rewarding experience! I have a senior dog (14 years old) and a 6 year old cat. So it took me a while to get into the hang of having fosters in my one bedroom Brooklyn apartment. I have fostered puppies twice and I often foster pairs of kittens. Right now I'm fostering two adorable 5 week old kittens that were pulled from the ACC on the first day of their lives! Another foster and volunteer from the organization had them for their first three weeks, and when I was confident I could provide adequate care for them, we transferred them to me once my other two kittens were adopted. I would say if you want to foster, you truly have to understand the limited resources that the rescue can provide (mainly, money). When I foster, I usually spend my own money on things like food and toys (to me that's a part of being a foster parent), but I know Waggytail also gets donations and they have provided me with items that my foster pets have needed including food. I have had great experiences working with the other volunteers who manage the other fosters. Whenever my foster animals need medical attention, they are able to get me a vet visit usually in the next couple of days, depending on the urgency of the situation. I have also been able to participate in the adoption process by reading applications for my foster pets and setting up meet and greets with potential adopters, and it has been so fulfilling to meet the new owners of all of my foster babies and be reassured that they have all gone to wonderful homes. I will also say I have witnessed how incredibly organized the rescue group is. I fostered 2 puppies from a litter of 4 who were part of their annual Tijuana transport. All of the emails I got leading up to that transport were super clear, and the communication from the volunteers was surprisingly great. Whenever I had logistical questions, they would be answered within 24 hours. The day of the actual transport, I saw all of the volunteers hard at work bright and early in the morning on a rainy day. There were stations for where to pick up your dog(s), where to register and get their papers, and a station for extra supplies that included literally everything you would need from harnesses, leashes, pee pads, poop bags, dog food, dog beds, dog bowls, even grooming wipes and brushes! It was SUPER helpful to be able to collect extra supplies needed to foster two puppies at the same time. Anyway, no organization is perfect, and people tend to turn to Yelp to write negative reviews. But I can genuinely say that this is a great rescue to foster with. They truly care about the animals, and that's exactly why I foster :)

I adopted a few months ago. The process was easy and comfortable, Meghan made sure everything was in order and accommodate me and my family to be able to adopt our now fur family members. I would definitely recommend anyone to adopt from there and support with donations. A great experience.

Thank you Waggytail for helping my family and I find our fur baby! I've been looking to adopt a dog for quite some time now. I've applied on various rescue sites, but never received a response. I was close to giving up, until I stumble upon Waggytail. I saw an adorable picture of a puppy, and thought "let's give this another try". Within 2 days I was contacted by Ashley, who was nothing short of amazing in helping me with the adoption process. I provided all information that was needed and in less than a week I was connected with the foster, Kim. Kim was so kind and patient with me. She explained all that I needed to know prior to taking my new pup home. She provided guidance and reassurance and made me feel at ease and confident to take on this new role as a pet owner. We are beyond happy with our little guy, Bentley (formerly Krypto). So happy to have found Waggytail, and hope we can adopt more fur babies from them in the near future.

We had an absolutely amazing experience with Waggytail Rescue. Everybody we interacted with was extremely responsive and kind. They take potential adopters very seriously and do everything they can to ensure that the dogs are going to a good home. We would definitely adopt with Waggytail again.
