Description Shelter to Soldier is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that adopts dogs from local shelters and trains them to become psychiatric service dogs for post 9/11 veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma. The program also places emotional support animals with active duty military and veterans, and deploys the STS Canine Ambassadors Therapy Team to provide visits of love and comfort to local military, veterans and their families.

Not only is the work they do here much needed, but the owners, trainers, and staff are also passionate about their mission. They're educated and experienced in excellent training methods and skills that maintain every dog's well-being. Their pups LOVE to learn and work with them! The trainers are detailed and patient with new owners as they learn to build bonds and a loving working relationship with their trained dogs. I am incredibly impressed with their knowledge and abilities to meet the needs of their clients, human and canine! I HIGHLY recommend Shelter to Soldier if you require a trained canine companion to help you out. If you’re not, please consider reaching out to this fantastic organization with your support so they can continue to serve shelter dogs and our service men & women in need!

I just went to one of their seminars and I feel like I wasted my time and gas dont get me wrong what they do is awesome but a huge downfall is they only help combat veterans so someone such as my wife who is a non-combat veteran (medically discharged due to MST) they just outright told her they WONT help her. I was unaware there was a problem with how a veteran served their country but I guess that's how these organizations work they would rather help a person who was over seas and made their country look good then a person who was assaulted by another military member and then discharged because of the mental trauma they suffered from the event.

they do an awesome job training rescued dogs for service to a former service person who needs assistance of various kinds and the dogs are well behaved and trained properly to be an excellent companion support system and service dog
