I considered fostering with this group because my mom was. I joined their Facebook group which I was later blocked from because of very factual information I shared. My mom has had a foster with BTN since August 2023. There has been SEVERAL interested applicants who were all turned down for bogus reasons. One gentlemen who was a college professor and a baseball coach was turned down because he “wouldn’t have enough time” but his mother lived in the house connected to his who he clearly stated would care for his dog while he wasn’t home. My mom has paid for dog food and flea and tick medication for her foster dog ever since she has had him. A friend emailed the rescue asking if fosters are reimbursed for food and was told “we cover medical care but not food and supplies” this organization is a 501c3 that gets donations from the community. This organization agrees to care for dogs that require $6-9k in treatment which in my opinion is a disservice to the dog if they agree to take on a case so extensive knowing they do not have the appropriate funds. My mom has made it clear that she does not want to adopt her current foster, it’s a financial burden supporting a dog that belongs to BTN , and was told “bring him to the directors house where he will be kept in the garage in a kennel” which is clearly not in the best interest of the dog . I only hope that this rescue does their due diligence to approve the current applicant (who my mom already did a meet and greet with and has told everyone with BTN the applicant is a perfect fit) because this foster dog deserves a beautiful life by a family who is willing to give him that and more!!! (Attached is one message of an applicant turned down because they were overweight as well as one denied because the person owned a snake)
