Me and my dad went here on an emergency visit when my best friend, Tucker, was throwing up after he ingested anything, even just water. He wasn’t his usual lively self and I worked myself up into a frenzy, terrified for my boy. When my dad got home after working 16 hours I cried and we rushed over to the emergency vet. I was absolutely terrified that he had dog bloat, which is why I was so adamant that we went to the vet. We were given a room to wait in very quickly and given that he was having multiple symptoms of dog bloat I thought he was get seen very fast since it is very fatal and can kill a dog within 3 hours. But we sat in that room, without seeing so much as a receptionist for over 4 hours. I told my dad at that moment “at this point we can leave because if it was dog bloat I would’ve lost my best friend by now.” I was extremely livid. We came in at 10pm and it was now after 1am and we haven’t seen anyone. I went out to ask if the receptionists knew when we would get seen, it was very clear we were forgotten about. Now it was after 2am crawling to 3am and finally a doctor came in, he asked a couple questions about what was going on and left. No one came back until after 3. Around 3:30 he was taken to the back for x-rays as the doctor suspected he had eaten something that got stuck in his intestines. They brought him back out at around 4. Around 4:30 the doctor came back and confirmed that there was something stuck but he couldn’t tell if it was stuck in his intestine or colon, after reviewing more and checking how Tucker was reacting to things, he was certain it was in is colon and told us he would be okay and he would just have to well poop it out, and we would be out shortly. Not too long after that a different vet came in and told us that the object was in his large intestine and he would need a $10k surgery. My dad works 2 jobs so we can get by, we don’t have $10k just laying around, so tearfully we had to decline and we were basically told Tucker would not survive without this surgery. After that the first vet came back in and told us the object was in his SMALL intestine. And that’s when we saw through everything and realized they just wanted more money, and that broke my heart. The object was in his colon. He didn’t need a surgery that would put him in more risk and would cause us to take a second mortgage out on our house. Now don’t get me wrong I was simultaneously ecstatic when we realized their disgusting intentions and realized it was in his colon because that would mean he just needs a long walk. I sat on writing this review for months because the whole situation upsets me and makes me feel sick, but I couldn’t just ignore it, surgery never should’ve been something we would have to consider, we never should’ve had to wait 4 hours to be seen, we never should’ve had to pay over two thousand dollars to be told my best friend was going to die because we couldn’t afford to pay for this $10k surgery. Tucker is doing great now, he’s a happy and healthy boy and just turned seven years old last month, even though we were told he would die because we didn’t put $10k in the pockets of those vets.
The front desk staff were all so friendly. All the staff were wonderful! We went here as an emergency, my dog was in pain and limping. Of course it was a holiday so all the vets were closed but honestly we were there 2 hours, which I thought was a fine amount of time for an emergency visit. As the staff took their time they needed with my dog without rushing it. The front staff took my dog back to see if she needed immediate attention and then we went into an exam room. Dr Tanalski was absolutely wonderful, she explained everything and came back once the Lyme test was positive so we could forgo the X-rays which saved us some money. She even called us once the other tests came back a few days later to check on Lucy. The vet techs, you could definitely tell they were all animal lovers and I felt safe leaving my Lucy with them. I drove almost 2 hours and I would do it again in a heartbeat. All the staff were so pleasant and most importantly they treated my dog like their own. Thank to all! Thank you for helping my Lucy girl.
We went to Green Acres this past Sunday, not knowing ahead of time tgat it would also be the day we would say goodbye to our precious cat Snickers, who was 16 years. Everyone took time and showed genuine concern. They showed kindness and professionalism and were mindful of the expense and showed compassionate to Snickers and our emotions. Thank you for your kindness, understanding and genuine care during the most difficult day and decision we had to make. Upon learning the news that we should consider putting her to sleep, the vet honored our wishes to take her home with us for the afternoon for our family to say goodbye. During this time, Snickers helped us to know she was ready. She went to lie down in the garden under some trees. She was ready, even of we were so sad to let her go. We are so thankful for our 16 years of love and memories together and look forward to seeing her again in Heaven one day. Thanks you Greene Acres team.
From the initial phone call to get emergency care all the way to discharge, I felt like I was dealing with the equivalent of human Emergency visit at the URMC. When I arrived at the door, Tori was quick to assess the situation and triage my pet. The doctor was thorough, caring and handled my sick boy well. The entire experience was top notch. Again, I felt cared for and knew Cooper was in good hands.
Green Acres kindly allowed us to bring our sick pet to their establishment when all other facilities in our city (Rochester) were closed or had no open appointment space. Our pup was given an initial assessment, an examination, diagnosis & treatment plan. Your intake staff & veterinarian were kind & caring & knowledgeable. We are very thankful that our pet got the care he needed when he needed it.
Dr. Haley and his tech Brooke were my angels yesterday. Forever grateful for helping my sweet girl Sabie. She wasn't feeling good: not eating, and throwing up all the water she drank, and hiding. She was already doing better that night, and pretty much back to 100% the next mornjng, eating and purring and wanting attention. Dr. Reeder, who we saw the night this began, was also very compassionate and helpful, although I didn't have the funds for treatment until the next day, which was when Dr. Haley and Brooke took over. The rest of the staff were amazing through this whole process. They were all loving up on Sabie when we came in, and she loves her attention!! Nicole, Katie and Paige were especially wonderful and I am forever grateful for them! Very clean and comfortable waiting room, and we were almost immediately taken into the actual patient room, despite it being busy! My experience was very comforting and relieving during a very scary time. Definitely coming back to this emergency vet clinic, if ever need be. And completely recommend to anyone, your baby is in good hands with Green Acres Animal Hospital!
