I adopted my first rescue dog from Caring Hearts and Paws about a year and half ago. I felt so discouraged at the time because a large majority of rescues wouldn't even consider my application because I was living in an apartment, not a house. I heard back from this rescue pretty soon after I applied and then the rest of the process moved quickly. I had a slight hiccup with some miscommunication from my landlord but the volunteer I was working with, Jenn, was extremely patient and helpful. I'm so thankful she stuck it out with me and didn't just move on to the next applicant. It was all sorted out in the end, and I was able to adopt the absolute love of my life, Junie B. Jones (formally known as Agnes).

My family has just gone through the absolute worst experience with this rescue. The adoption process might be fine, but I want the public to know that if you have a crisis, the only way this rescue will respond is if you use the power of social media to get their attention. Ultimately they did the right thing because of this public pressure, but the lack of compassion and empathy was horrendous. I feel it is my duty to make sure the public is aware and I would highly encourage someone looking to adopt to stay away from this rescue. I don’t normally post negative reviews but when I asked to speak with someone in charge or on the board I was told I could not have that contact information. They also deleted my replies on their Facebook page begging for help. No transparency at all.
