A Pet Clinic of Kent has been an absolutely critical lifeline for me - they’ve helped enable me to care for my two elderly cats (both of whom developed cancer late in life, one who passed last September) and give them the best life I can. Compared to other places I’ve taken them over the last decade, their prices are dramatically lower and from all I’ve seen the quality of care is not lower. The primary caveat I think worth calling out is that communication is not their strongest point. You will need to make sure you are proactive and understand what to expect, what you need to do, etc. - otherwise it can all go by a little quick. I get the sense they genuinely care for the animals they help but that dealing with people and considering the sorts of communication issues and emotional readiness may not come as naturally. The biggest example was when it was time to put Simba down I wish I had been given detailed info on exactly what to expect during the procedure before hand and that I had been directed to pick out his urn before ever stepping foot in the clinic. I was already exhausted on several axes when I arrived and the confusion of having to make a decision while taking in information and not knowing that there was some urgency after setting up the IV all led to me feeling rushed (which is on me) and agreeing to move forward. I didn’t realize it would take literally 0.25 seconds for Simba to go from alive and there with me to completely gone - somehow I had it in my mind it took time to set in. As such I wasn’t mentally present in his final moments there with him. All this said, I am still giving a 5 star rating b/c outside of this they were critical in diagnosing Simba and helping me prepare and understand how severe his condition is and what to expect (my explicit asking likely helped), and I was able to give him a send off in his final weeks that dramatically helped blunt the pain from his death and make it much easier to cope. Now they’re helping me with Baxter. And importantly the whole way even though I’ve spent thousands at this point they’ve made this level of care within reach for me because if I’d gone else where I would have very very likely paid tens of thousands instead which is not feasible for me. So long story short, thank you so much for being there. Despite the flaws I’ve mentioned I deeply appreciate the service and care you provide me and many others in this area. [EDIT] Since writing this I’ve taken Baxter in a few more times and he had to have one major surgery. In that time I’ve seen noticeable improvements in the quality of communication from them. It’s not perfect but I see a genuine effort on their part - particularly the head vet. I feel it worth calling out here - it’s noticed and appreciated!
Absolutely the best veterinarian I have found in Kent. Dr. Nagra has saved my cat three times now. Quick appointments, the most knowledgeable and efficient place and the only place I trust to take care of my fur babies.
The receptionist was amazing very helpful. The vet was awesome and very helpful. And delivering the instructions on how to do thee after care for my pet. An amazing team with reasonable prices on procedures.
Dr. N is the best around! He has been our family's vet for several of our pets and he is thorough, empathetic and genuine. We have had not only preventive care, routine care but emergency care (i.e. gunshot wound to the head, hit by car, intestinal blockage) and Dr. N handles our dogs with such care and love, like they were his own. We recommend him and this clinic!
They were wonderful. We had never been there and our regular vet was unavailable and we needed emergency care. We thought our cat just needed a tooth pulled and it turned out that she had a rare form of bone cancer that was very aggressive and eating away at her jaw. Our only option was to put her down. The care, compassion, and support the staff put forth was so amazing. Cuddles was so loved in her last moments by people she'd never met and I'm so grateful. I recommend this place to anyone. The 30 minute drive was worth it. And the price was reasonable.
We went to a Pet Clinic of Kent for 3 years- and in general had good experiences- and some of the more affordable surgery costs in the area for our two dogs. However, after a recent terrible experience we are switching to a new vet. My dog Scooba had what began as a hot spot that we took him to A Pet Clinic of Kent(APCoK) to be seen for. We were told fleas were the cause, to monitor and that it needed to essentially heal on its own. After it became clear the hot spot was not healing, and spreading down my dogs tail -we went in for a follow up-at this point I was concerned no action was being taken. Our dog was given an allergy shot, and told that was all that could be done. My dog was in such discomfort he chewed through his cone and his tail continued to worsen. We went to an urgent care vet, where we were informed any type of sedative would have helped to this point, and that the tail was not looking like it was in a good state, but to monitor it. Anti-inflamatorys , a sedative, and antibiotics were given- but we were told it was very possible that an amputation would have to happen! Our poor dog in the night , chewed through his new cone, THEN chewed off the tip of his own tail. The emergency vet told us we needed to have the rest of the tail amputated immediately. The emergency vet was nothing but kind to us, but essentially told us that from the beginning sedatives should have been administered and antibiotics to bring down the infection and inflammation of our dogs poor tail and to alleviate his discomfort. Thousands of dollars later, my dog lost his beautiful tail all from something that easily could have been prevented. I'm really disappointed and sad this had to happen, but we need to switch to a vet that takes our concerns seriously the first or second visit before its too late.
