Fantastic experience adopting two kittens here. The process only took a few days from application to getting a phone call and scheduling a meet and greet, to taking our two new family members home. Everyone we worked with was friendly and professional, and all the animals were very well cared for. Thank you for helping us find our new best friends!

We signed up online for vaccinations for our cats. The sign up online process is quick, easy to do and understand- you shortly receive an email with any additional information they may need. You are not seen at your reserved appointment time - the time only reserves your fur babies visit. We arrived around 10-10:15 am and there was a long line but it was moving. The staff will come to your car and review the documents that they ask you to print and sign via email prior to your visit. Then another staff member comes to your vehicle to take payment for the services your pet will receive. Final step is another staff member comes to get your furbabies from your vehicle and then takes them inside to get their service. All staff members are respectful and caring. Your payment receipts and records will be emailed to you shortly after your visit. When they bring your fur babies back to you they will then give you additional instructions on the dewormer and flea medicine they send home with you ( if you requested it and paid for it) Our fur babies were returned promptly and in good condition. Thankfully no bad reactions to medications/ vaccines. You will enjoy the view while waiting for your visit, you will see the dogs they have available and the amazing big pig 🐷 ( if he is still there) Make sure to donate to SPCA!!

People are extremely nice, the line is just SO LONG. It took 2 hours for me to finally get to the front of the line and get my dog his shots. Prices are unlike no other - got my dog all his vaccines for $45!

Reigality

For a place that claims they are overbooked with kittens they make the adoption process absolutely impossible. I remember the days when you could go into a shelter, play with different cats and find the best one for you. Now I have to fill out an application for ONE cat at a time. Wait days for my application to get looked at, schedule a meet and greet, and if I don’t bond with this cat I have to start all over? You cant even TOUCH the cat without having an application filled out first. How will I know if this cat would even be a good match for me if I can’t even touch them?? Then the one I wanted to see I’m being warned that I shouldn’t adopt her alone because she’s a young kitten and they don’t do visits on Sundays (if you work a 9-5 good luck!). This is ridiculous. I understand being careful about who to adopt to but when will you be satisfied? This process is why you are overbooked, absolutely stressful and discouraging.

So very disappointed in the SPCA of AA County. The adoption process takes entirely too long and there is no communication as to the status of your application. I have called twice and sent two emails (that went unanswered) in the last 10 days and my application status is still yet to be determined. If the goal is to find loving, safe and suitable homes for these pups, then the SPCA of AA needs to develop a new process.

We adopted our little girl (formally named seven) Savanna from SPCA in 2019, and I have to say, she is the happiest little camper in the world. We liked how thorough they were with her adoption process; they ensured she would go to a great home, and she has! The first two pictures were around when we brought her home, and the last two are more recent :)
