Brought my cat in to check on what were clear symptoms of kidney disease - the staff was incredibly kind and professional, took time to walk me through the cost of each action they could take to treat my cat, and worked with me on a plan I could afford that day. My cat's doing immensely better now - gaining weight again and energetic from the treatment plan - and I'd gladly go back again. A vet trip usually doesn't happen under the ideal circumstances so being informative and supportive is very important to me and I saw that from Encanto Pet Clinic.
Two of my cats are under Dr. Hogan’s care and she is amazing! The staff is super friendly and I just love how quickly my cats are able to warm up to everyone here. Check out one of my babies having fun in the waiting room.
We recently started using Encanto for our pet's care. Unfortunately, one of our cats, Charley, lost a battle with kidney disease in May. Encanto and Doc Hogan were the best to our family when we brought him in to be laid to rest. They gave us time and a beautiful little area to sit with him. We have continued care here with our 3 other pets. They doctors and staff have been very good at communicating with us our pets' needs and care.
Started out positive enough. Jessica at the front desk was helpful and at least they were taking new clients. Went to the appointment and the vet tech (I wish I could remember her name) was super kind and helpful. Then the vet came in. Barely spoke to us. Told us that our cat had 3 teeth that needed to come out. The cost would have been upwards of $2,500. But that is not what this is about really- we had already decided to pay it and had done what we needed to do to pay it. No, the issue was that when I researched the antibiotic they prescribed in liquid form, I found out that it comes in pill form too. Considering that I had to give her an enormous amount of this liquid, and it is horrible tasting (food cannot disguise it), I asked why was given in liquid form and why I wasn't given a choice? I was told that the pill is nasty tasting too but that if I wanted it they would exchange it for the liquid... I just had to drive the 70 miles to the clinic instead of going to work, to pick it up. When I expressed that this was not an option and that the pill option should have been discussed with me at the appt., I was told yes, it should have, but that the vet I saw was a "relief" vet. Look at their negative reviews, and you will see a common theme of "Oh that was a relief vet" whenever they respond to a complaint. Then, I was told that a Dr. would have to ok for them to call in a pill prescription to my pharmacy. The Dr. was in surgery and it would be later that day (Tuesday) or the next day (Wed.). I am writing this on Thursday. I haven't heard anything about a prescription being called in. So they know that I am having trouble giving my cat the antibiotic, but it's apparently not important enough to call in or to inform me that they aren't going to do it. Luckily, I found another vet who could take my cat immediately for her surgery, and wouldn't you know it? One of the teeth doesn't even have to come out. Apparently there is nothing wrong with it. So the "relief" doctor didn't even give good information about that. Encanto is overpriced and not even good at what they do. I guess if you overcharge everyone, you can turn down $2500 every once in awhile. Update: emailed the address given in the response. Suddenly I get messages from them, dated several days ago (?) claiming to have sent a prescription and that my pharmacy doesn't do pet meds (which my pharmacy says they do and don't know what they are talking about and never had any contact with them) Never had an issue getting emails from them before now all these late ones coming in at once. Hmm. Doesn't matter though, I'm done with them.
My experience at this clinic has been inconsistent over the past few months since the change in ownership. My 14 year old kitty was a patient of Dr. Hogan for the past 2 years. She left this past summer and the other vet followed suit shortly thereafter. I have had my cat seen by the releif vet twice and never met the new vet. At our last visit, I could hear everything they were saying behind the closed door between the exam room and their clinic space including plans for lunch and pricing strategies. I heard one tech directing our tech to sell me a 3 month "bundle" of Solensia injections. She said they could sell them individually, but they like to sell them in the "bundle." When the tech came in she offered me the "bundle." I said I was not ok with paying for 3 months at a time and asked how much one dose would be. She said "I dont know its a hundred and something". I had to ask twice to get the exact amount. Guess what? The price per dose of the "bundle" deal is the same as the price per individual dose. I know how to calculate unit rates! So why would I pay for 3 months up front? What is the benefit to me? In the end I shopped around and found that their price per dose is high. I am saving a significant amount taking my business elsewhere.
Very lovely staff. My cat was very comfortable there.
