I like going here even when I am not adopting a pet. We got our second boy (Siberian Husky Mix)from here and the way they handled intro was great, we brought our Oldest boy to meet his new brother, and the ease of introducing them was perfect. They took the husky in the pen and let the boys meet through the fencing first then gradually let them into the same pen/yard and we let them sniff for a bit and then the boy have been together ever since. Also the coupons when adopting and all the information was very helpful and a happy unexpected gift. When the time comes we would definitely consider adopting from here again
They are so patient and take time with the most difficult patients. My two are not easy to get along with, but they manage to get them taken care of.
We went in looking for a new fur baby and that is just what we found. The staff was happy to help in any way. Although you could tell the were busy and maybe a little understaffed in some sections they did not let that stop them from giving each person an experience. The wait time was a little long when I came to pick up my new cat, but they allowed me to play with him and get him ready to go home with me. They even gave us lots of coupons for care-a-lot, ziplock bag of dry food and 2 cans or wet food to get us started and must I say our new fur baby is great. It is always an awesome feeling to rescue a new pet.
so i’ve had many animals in my life but this was the first i had adopted myself with my fiancé but it was amazing everyone there was supper sweet and really helpful we had adopted Liberty sweetest kitten ever!!! it’s funny she’s so playful yet shy but they told us she just was calm!! i love her either way she’s made the best addition to the family!! side notes: if you come late you can’t pick up same day! but we went in Saturday night put in the application and picked her up yesterday! so i know some people want animals right away but just one night didn’t kill us we took it to prepare for her. just don’t stress! i hope everyone and everything there is able to find good homes!!!
These volunteers are the greatest they have hearts bigger than the great outdoors period. They are the biggest help for both pets & people ,they really care !!! And provide our community with the best services I simply can't say enough on how much they care about our pets period !!!
Great place for people and for animals. The staff is passionate about saving animals and finding forever homes. The Norfolk SPCA mostly has dogs and cats, but also guinea pigs, gerbils, and rabbits (occasionally). The shelter also has a barn cat program for more independent cats to be adopted as a mouser. Unlike other shelters, this one also allows visitors to interact with the animals.
