I cannot help but leave this place with a 5 star review. On Monday, while walking my dog, I was wrongly arrested - and they took my dog, Pablo. I had no idea where he was - thanks to his tracker, and this specific shelter who messaged and called me nonstop I was able to find him once I get out this Tuesday. I got out too late to go that day, and on Wednesday they’re technically closed because they take care of animals that day and do admin stuff. Waiting probably would’ve killed me - I had so many thoughts in my head, what if he’s gone etc…. They picked up my call, and let me get him today! Not only did I get him, but I got him in one piece, completely safe and happy - no signs of abuse or neglect, completely how he was when he was taken from me. They even gave me a good bag with a leash and some toys for my Pablo. I cannot thank this place enough for what they do for animals, specifically mine when my life really took a turn for the worst. If I had it my way, I would ABSOLUTELY, want this place to get more funding so that they can do even more! I’ll be careful when voting because I want our animal shelters to be the best they can be, and not just rely on the amazing people who work there. A truly heart warming day for me. Gracias por ayudarme a llevar el rey a su palacio! Sinceramente, Toni Sites y Pablo Escobar
I went to look at animals up for adoption and a couple brought in a mom Pitt bull with 3 puppies. I’m not sure the full story, but it was very uncomfortable because the staff were guilting the couple about surrendering the mom and puppies, and asked me not to pet any of the puppies or mom- “You’ve had the mom this long, why can’t you just keep her at least.” I understand health-wise that the puppies aren’t vaccinated yet, but if they were found on the road, they also would not be vaccinated there. It’s not ok to make customers and people coming feel uncomfortable. I’m a human, I don’t have a plague. These puppies have already been exposed to xyz, and this couple was desperate to leave the mom and puppies, but at least they were seeking help from a shelter. In the name of doing good and right by animals, we shouldn’t forget that humans exist too.
Pet owners, PLEASE register your microchip on petlink. I found a lost British Shorthair with an unregistered chip, the only way to return it to the family in that case is to contact the shelter. The chip came back to this shelter. However, this pet shelter doesn't have a direct line and only responds to email and voicemail after a bit of time. So, please register the chip on your pet! You never know when they'll run away, and you want to make it easier for a would-be rescuer to get them back to you!
I adopted 2 orangey boys (cats 8-9 month old) on NYE. The staff was really kind knowing we had just lost our senior cat earlier in December and were understanding that my husband and I wanted to come back with our kids to make sure it was a match. They didn't pressure us but we're hopeful that these two idiot litter mates would go together. They were in isolation because they had colds. Every person from front desk, staff, and volunteers cared so much about all of the animals. I can't understate how much care and love everyone put into these 2 dumb strays. All kennels were so clean. Definitely find a friend here.
I have adopted a dog n a cat from here both have passed away. They are the best they take excellent care of their animals n their adoption process is so comfortable. They walk you through every step. I am looking to adopt again from them.
Only speaking for puppy adoption.. This shelter was awesome. They really aren’t worried about emptying their kennels as much as finding the right animal for the right family. Only slight negative is things can move a little slow at times due to the busy nature of the business. That being said they really do try really hard and do their best to accommodate everyone. Please remember these people are humans. Mostly volunteers. So be patient as they have a pile of papers to do for every pet.
