DO NOT BRING IN WILDLIFE IF IT MET YOUR DOG! THEY WILL GIVE YOUR DOG A BITE REPORT!!!!!!!! Our dog has caught a possum in our garden in September. It seemed poor animal is alive as our dog didn’t want to hurt him just wanted to play and the possum played dead. We called animal control and told them that while the possum’s legs has some superficial scratches the animal seems in good condition. We clearly stated we want to save its life and asked if they can help us with that otherwise we take it to a non profit. They assured us it’s okay, they will take care of it, even gave me a number where can follow up on how the possum doing. That was a lie and they were 100% aware of it at the time of the phone call. They automatically kill ALL wildlife that came in contact with pets which they will only tell you after they did so. The reason? They test them in rabies. There has been no rabies incident in the county for over a 100 years. Also, possums are one of the only animals which are UNABLE TO CARRY RABIES as their body temperature are too low for the virus to survive. With other words they are killing wildlife for no good reason, while deliberately lying to the public. On the top of that we have received a fine for $60 for trying save a life and my dog got a bite report for playing in our garden. Disgusting organization. For your pets sake, under no circumstances should you contact them.

I'd give 0 if I could! horrible place! Irresponsible people and extremely bureaucratic! My rescue dog bit me a month ago and I was calling them to seek suggestions/recommendations on behavioral therapist. Instead of proving ANY guidance, they sent ppl to collect $50 for REPORTING dog quarantine! It's wayyyyy past the 10day quarantine period and my dog is healthy. Don't count on them for any help! They only care about money.

This morning a coyote was trying to attack my dog, I was told to report the Incident to animal control. I spoke with a women who told me coyotes don’t attack dogs when a person is standing with them😳 she also said coyotes don’t attack people. From my Encounter this morning, this is not true. She Repeatedly told me to hold the line, she just wanted me to go away and stop asking anymore questions. Her tone and attitude is not a person who should be working with the public and animals.

Large dog walking down the El Camino on a Saturday afternoon ! who are you going to call ? Animal Control is on it . Friendly and so caring of the situation. Just wow , feel fortunate to have such great staff available to be there to help before anything we’re to happen. The San Mateo animal control rocks!
