Despicable INhumane experience. I had brought a squirrel that I found laying on the side of the sidewalk, thinking possibly he could have been hit by a car . I watched him carefully when I picked him up and didn't see any visible injuries or blood. He was alive. They gave me a case number so I could check on his fate. After a leaving a couple of messages, finally someone got in touch with me informing me that he passed. I was heartbroken .I asked questions : How did he die? Oh I don't know. Did they examine him for blood work or x rays to have a general idea if he was hit by a car? Oh no , it's probably poison. How do you know it was poison if he wasn't tested for anything ? Oh , we are just guessing. Was he fed and given water since I brought him in at 6pm? Oh, they found him dead next morning . Nobody is here overnight . So since I brought him in , this poor little squirrel was left inside the ventilated box , unchecked with no food or water ??? " Goodbye: C L I C K " He hang up on me. I'm besides myself because I brought this little angel to : A. Either be cared for , fed and given water OR B . Euthanized in a Humane way. Neither of these two happened. They kept him in the box overnight , alone and starved and zero care . Probably the squirrel struggled to it's death since when I brought him he was alive and with his eyes open . This is not Humane. Next time, I'll know better than to bring an animal who needs to be rescued into this pathetic place with zero manners where they hung up because they can't answer questions. Apparently they have hunged up on others as habit as I was reading another review. Despicable staff and INHUMANE ending of a precious soul who was begging for a chance to be helped. 🥹🐿💔
Caring staff and looks like a fairly new and very clean facility. We chose to get our 18 year old dog euthanized since he was no longer able to eat or stand so it was a difficult process for us but they were very helpful and kind. Very affordable. Easy access from 101 freeway.
What a disheartening and unsatisfying visit! The young Caucasian lady with green eyes and dark hair that greets you at the front was disrespectful, arrogant, rude, not helpful whatsoever had an excuse for every single question asked and should not be dealing with any anybody in public! The most disappointing experience I’ve ever had at any Humane Society. Don’t bring your animals here and don’t come here to adopt what a disappointing experience.
These people truly love helping animals. In every day that I worked with the staff, I could see their determination to give every dog, cat, hamster, squirrel, and bird a second chance. They have grit, compassion, and care. You're in good hands if you come here. If you are considering adopting, please visit the Burlingame location. I'm sure you'll find a pet to be with their forever family.
We brought a stray cat here. They processed her, and when they determined that she was a good adoption candidate, sent her to the adoption center. Excellent program.
I can't speak for the shelter but their emergency dispatcher is an extremely rude person who lacks people skills or empathy. I called earlier this evening as I saw a cat on the side of the freeway. When I tried to explain where the cat was, the woman who cut me off mid-sentence and said, " so what exactly is happening?!" I was so taken aback by how rude she was. Then she proceeded to ask for clarifying details regarding the location, which is what I was trying to tell her in the first place before she interrupted and rushed me. She then said someone would go out to the scene. My friend then passed by the area several hours later and saw the poor cat was still pacing around the side of the highway and called to check on the status. A dispatcher who I imagine is the same person I spoke with, also cut my friend off and said "WE ONLY HAVE ONE PERSON FOR THE WHOLE COUNTY!" My friend was also taken aback by this woman's extremely rude and unempathetic attitude. She then asked if there are any tips for catching the cat herself seeing as it was at risk of getting hit by a car and the woman snarkily said "no, I don't have any tips or tricks". Absolutely horrible service. I sincerely hope the people who work with distressed wildlife are kinder, more patient, and caring than this dispatcher.
