I've been volunteering with Lucky Dog for about a year now. I've had the pleasure of fostering five dogs so far. Lucky Dog is an amazing organization with wonderful people. All of the workers & volunteers are extremely helpful, friendly, and communicative. If you have the time, consider volunteering at their many events! I am proud to be part of this lovely community.

I started as a foster with Lucky Dog, but very quickly foster-failed and adopted the sweetest pup. Throughout the process of becoming a foster and then an adopter, Lucky Dog staff and volunteers were extremely helpful and informative, making sure I felt prepared to take on caring for a puppy. It's clear from all their work -- from organizing adoption events to preparing fosters and new adopters -- animal welfare is their top priority. I'm so grateful that I found LDAR!

We had a wonderful experience adopting our beloved Dr. Indiana Bones from Lucky Dog. Everyone we met was so kind and passionate about finding the animals the right home. I am really impressed with their follow up and care. They even have great support for adopters after the pup (or kitty) comes home to help make sure the transition is smooth. Great organization!

You've heard of a "foster fail," but have you heard of a "volunteer fail?" That's me! My friend was fostering for Lucky Dog DC and has so many wonderful things to say about the brand and the dogs last year. We just lost our dog in May and weren't "ready" for a dog, so I decided to help through volunteering - dog handler & bringing kittens to and from events. Well, I met the "H-litter" at a handling event last August and maybe 3 days later (!!) we picked up our nearly perfect angel of a dog, Charlie (prev Honey). Yes, if I could've have taken all 3 I would have. Every single person I encountered in the process - the volunteers at the event, the fosters, the case worker - were so patient, empathetic, and lovely individuals. I even keep in touch with Charlie's previous foster 6 months later! If you are looking for a furever friend, I cannot recommend them enough. It's may be a little overwhelming (and heartbreaking for me) to go to an event with 40+ available dogs to choose from, but it is beneficial to see all the dogs, their personalities, the sizes and choose the right fit for you.

We rescued our sweet Phoebe from Lucky Dog Animal Rescue about a month ago, and we couldn't be more in love with our new fur baby. Lucky Dog made the adoption process smooth and seamless, and you can tell they REALLY care about their animals. They were incredibly thorough and are there for you even after the adoption process to ensure your new family member is adjusting well. When we are ready for fur baby #2, we will definitely be adopting from them again!
