I love AWLA! I adopted my dog Finley from them in 2022 and they were so helpful through the process and I thank them for bringing her to us. AWLA does amazing work for the community and for animals in need. They do a great job on social media highlighting pets for adoption and also bringing attention to the other work they do to help animals in the Arlington area. I highly recommend them and would encourage anyone looking to adopt to check them out.

The staff here are amazing. So helpful and friendly. Kari, Kelley, Danielle, Ronny and Mary have a passion for animals and a type of care for animals like no other animal shelter/staff. I love everything that they did for me! Truly an awesome experience.

Went to adopt a kitty with my husband. Thought it was strange how we couldn’t take the cat home w/o a collar (he was already wearing one) they kept the one he was already wearing and said we need to buy one. The interview process was extremely long! For already being experienced cat parents.. i understand they want to best for the animals but it could be a lot simpler. I also noticed our new kitty had EAR MITES. Its shocking they didn’t treat this matter before putting him up for adoption.

Wow, where do I start?!? This is the best adoption facility!! They are so empathetic. I unfortunately made the decision to surrender my dog before asking my family for help. The employees were so understanding of the situation and let me readopt her so she could go with my family. They didn’t have to do that because I legally surrendered her, but they did because they are good humans. This place is the best. Thank you again!!!!!!

I can't say enough good things about this animal shelter. I recently found a stray cat abandoned in a cage and brought him here. The staff was incredibly kind and understanding, making the whole process much easier for me. They assured me that the cat would be well taken care of, and now he's in good hands with a loving foster home. I was especially relieved to learn that this shelter doesn't euthanize animals. They also allow me to call and check on him, which means a lot since I was really worried about his wellbeing. I'm so grateful for their compassion and dedication to helping animals in need!
