Fantastic service affordable price. I love my pets and wouldn’t take them anywhere else.
We have 3 cats that we adopted from the humane league that we have taken here over the past 4 years and just got a fourth that we wish we could bring here too but unfortunately probably won’t be returning. Over the years we have brought our cats here for routine checkups, shots, and sick visits and all of the veterinary staff is truly top notch. They are always friendly, helpful, thorough, and extremely caring towards our pets and us alike. If we only had to deal with them we would gladly continue to make the drive from York for each cat’s appointments every time because they are that great. But there is one receptionist at this place that is a completely different story. Every time I have ever called in I feel like I am being scolded for inconveniencing her. That is if she even answers the phone at all. There have been occasions where I have shown up for my appointment on time in the middle of the day and the doors are locked and I’ve had to call multiple times with no answer or walk over to the adoption center for assistance and then when she finally unlocks the doors she gives off an attitude the entire time as if I’m bothering her for existing. During the last interaction a couple of weeks ago I called because one of our cats was sick and I wanted to make an appointment or speak to the vet for advice and she rudely and coldly just says “uh he needs to go to the ER like now, we’re booked until September ” which I understand if there are not openings and options may be limited, we clearly absolutely want to do what’s best for our sick cat, but you are his primary veterinary office and we are coming to you worried for help, maybe just pretend to show the slightest bit of compassion even if you have to refer us elsewhere. These are just a few difficult scenarios with her but there have been many more. She just seems miserable always! It’s a shame that this place has such a fantastic vet staff but the first interaction a client will encounter in no way reflects that. I would love to keep coming back but don’t want to feel like I’m being a burden and get reprimanded every time I need to schedule an appointment or ask a question. Vet staff is definitely worth more than 5 stars, but receptionist truly earns 0.
We adopted a cat from the humane league about a month ago and took her here for her first check up. We were very pleased with our first visit. We were instructed to get a urine sample for our cat and followed the directions. After dropping off the first sample we called after a week to see if the testing was complete. The person we spoke with was extremely rude and said that they left us 2 voicemails (which they didn't) and explained that we had to get another sample done. She sounded like it was an inconvenience and made it seem like we purposely contaminated the sample. I’m sure that they are very busy and assumed that they did try calling us, but maybe had the wrong number. After getting our second kit we went to drop off our second sample and the employee seemed to have little patience and informed us that it was to be refrigerated. We explained several times that we are first time cat owners and would have appreciated clear instructions. When we were scolded for dropping off a contaminated sample, we were never informed that the sample should be refrigerated. It is unfortunate that we had this experience because this is so close to our home, but we will be taking our cat somewhere else. I appreciate all of the work they do at the humane league and I am hoping we just caught people on a bad day. We appreciate having friendly, clear communication with whoever we are working with for our pets.
Lots of nice people working there. Not too many dogs to choose from at my visit. Plenty of cats up for adoption.
I want to love this place but I am honestly growing increasingly frustrated with them. I try contacting and can hardly get a hold of someone and when I do they say I will get a call back. The call backs seem uninformed or just unknowing of the case or treatment. I express concern about test results and medication and it seems to get put on a back burner. All I want is to be given clear and correct information about where I need to order meds and how that can be done, or if I can get a written a script to order myself. Like I said disorganized.
These people are absolutely wonderful with my dog. He is a 7 year old pure breed Rottweiler and he does not have a mean bone in his body but when he has to go to the vet to get shots or his nails clipped his anxiety takes over. He does have to be muzzled. Other clinics have turned me down because of this but not this place. They are exceptionally patient and well qualified and they are all so very sweet and understanding. My dog is not small. He is opposite. Very large but that does not stop them from doing their job. They always have full control and there has never been an incident not once. What I pay them to do gets done. They are great at keeping him calm to complete and perform their tasks. I have had animals my entire life and I wish I had known about this place when I had my first. As long as they are in business they will have my beloved furbabies as patients there.
