Description Oregon Humane Society (OHS) is a non-profit organization that provides pet adoption services, shelters surrendered or homeless cats and dogs, teaches responsible pet care, behavior and training -- and reduces pet over-population through its low-cost Spay and Neuter Clinic. OHS was founded in 1868 by noted humanitarian Thomas Lamb Eliot, OHS is the fourth-oldest humane society in the nation. Eliot initially established OHS to stop the neglect and abuse of draft animals. The mission expanded to include companion animals and, until 1933, orphaned children. The Oregon Humane Society Salem Campus (former Willamette Humane Society) was founded in 1968. They officially merged with Oregon Humane Society in July 2022.

It was time to adopt again. All of our furbabies have been rescued. This would be no exception. Grandkids and I were immediately drawn to Lola Bun but continued to look in the other rooms as well. Needless to say, she had my heart and is living her best life. My thoughts go out to the person who needed to surrender her. Please know she has a loving home.
We did a series of training classes here with our 18 month old puppy. Instructor Paulina was great, and we learned many helpful techniques with our dog. Very nice training room. Everyone was very professional.
I adopted my cat here over a year ago, a very positive experience, staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. He was sick for a little while and they had to keep him until he was on the mend, which I felt was wise on their part to make sure they didn't send a sick cat home with a new owner who might not know what to do. Staff seems to shift semi-frequently, understandable as I imagine money can be tight and pay is probably not too glamorous; unfortunate as staff work hard and the humane society fills an important role in our community and takes care of many animals which would otherwise be suffering. Definitely an organization which deserves our support, whether through volunteering time, financial support, or donation of pet food and items (they have a bin outside the front door for food and item donations)
Took our kitties in to get fixed on Feb. 15th, 2024. Nice people in main area of the shelter. Was able to go look at doggies up for adoption. Kennel area was stinky, but the puppies were all so cute!!!! Wish I could've brought home a couple of them that day. 🤭🤭🤭🤭
Quick easy adoption, kind attentive staff. Great kitten!
I will update on their pets so many that had FIP and they knew they had them, they should work with us (their vet) to adopt but also help us continue their medical needs. Their giving us fur babies already on a death row !! Help us better their lives with YOUR VET so we can give them a better life !! You knew a lot of pets had this at your shelter but did nothing to work with us to help their medical needs!!! This is not over, something needs to be brought out in the open and fines for not saying anything or working with those who adopt and see your vet so we can work together on their needs and not be so expensive, its not easy when babies already sick, we want to give them better life but how when vets charge so damn high!!! Your vet should work with us when adopting a sick baby!!! And ANSWER your phones!!! A change needs to happen!!! I know nothing going to happen and your going to say your feedback in important! But all lies. Something needs to happen and someone needs to be held accountable!!!!!!
