This is how they “cared” for their cats. It makes me sick thinking about these conditions and how these poor cats must have felt, and for who knows how long. Disgusting cages, uncleaned litter boxes, cats were covered in fleas. This isn’t an animal rescue, this is neglect. Thank you to the person who spoke up for these cats and shame on you ACA.
The cat that I found, and loved as soon as I saw her, I thought it was best to, get her fixed. Then took her to a second chance for animals, nothing no answers. And then tried to call, text and email, to get some information. A Lady named Sara, said she'd call me as soon as she knew something. But alas nothing. So I'm saying fraud.
Trying to get a hold of somebody via email and call. Sadly nobody has gotten back with me so far. Went there in person and nobody opened the door. The entrance does not look very welcoming. I hope this is just a bad first impression and my next attempt will be successful. Happy to give a positive review when everything goes well.
Had to return a kitten to them because of health issues. We called and left numerous messages explaining because of my health issues we could no longer keep him because he was a very wild kitten, almost think he might have been part feral. This went on for 4 months, never returned any of my messages. I talked to VHS to see if they could take him, and they wouldn't because he belonged to ACA, and it was in there contract. Fortunately, someone there knew how to get ahold of them. She said she'd meet me there at 5pm. They opened the door to take the cat,and the smell about knocked me over. My hands were tied,I had to leave him there. Never again, will I go near that place. Fortunately, I noticed the kitten is in foster care, it has to be better than ACA. They really need to be shut down!!!
My experience with Another Chance for Animals had some unusual occurrences.I saw on adoptapet.com that fees for dogs are $125. Granted, similar to petfinder or any 3rd party websites, prices could always vary. When I met the foster parent, Linda Drake and the dog I adopted, (3 year old chocolate lab), I was assured all dogs get vaccinated, fixed/neutered and microchipped. I did not receive the paperwork of the dog until 5 days after I picked him up from the doggy day care that he was being cared for at, and I had to ask for the paperwork. Initially reading through it, everything looked okay. After needing his vaccine history, I notice there is no microchip information. I also check the adoption fee and saw I was charged $200 instead of $125. I did see the initial $200 when I first paid for him, but also thought maybe part of it was a holding fee to ensure I didn’t back out on adopting him. I texted Linda about this information, and she responded back with, “You should not have been charged $200. Let me check into that.” About 9 minutes later, she responds back with “Sarah and Erin said they had his adoption fee at $200.” After communicating with the foster, it turns out they did have a miscommunication about the dog not being microchipped. While I appreciated them owning the microchip mistake, I also inquired about the adoption fee and sent the website that included the adoption fee rates. After a 15 minute email break, Erin said thank you, I got it fixed and the fees were IMMEDIATELY taken down with no replacement fees or updated information. Erin said it was because of increase in vet care over the past 3 years, is why the adoption fee were raised. Erin said I would get a refund of $15 for the dog not being microchipped. I checked the website of the vet care of where he got vaccinated and neutered, and the microchip fee is $25, and not $15. I understand the price increase, and knowing it’s a shelter and needing help, and also seeing most services offer a reduced cost for shelters but I also believe in transparency and integrity. Based on the fact I sent documentation that should have been honored and was only brought to attention that it was on the website after I inquired it, most shelters (Indy Humane, Heaven After Hell, It Takes A Village) show adoption fees on website or next to the dog that is available for adoption, and honor those prices and fees. Due to the inconsistency in adoption fees, and not receiving a check in the mail for him not being microchipped, I would use caution in adopting from this rescue. After over a month of not receiving a check for a mistake for the microchip, or even acknowledging the email for the delay when I inquired about it, my opinion of them has decreased. I also have screenshots of the adoption fees, communication with Linda, and communication of the emails between Erin and myself in regards to the fees and microchip communication.
Wish I could give them no stars!! This is Mia I had her for two years foster/adopted her. We came into some issues with one out of 3 of my dogs not getting along so I reached out to ANOTHER CHANCE FOR ANIMALS/ACA to help. Took months for them to even help me try to find her a new place. It wasn't fair to leave her in a kennel or the back yard for parts of the day nor fair for my other dog. Yes she had separation anxiety till she got to know some one but she was great with her lab buddies, our kids, and our 6 cats. They told me to bring her to there office where she would stay because I refused to take her to animal control, told me they'd get her posted she's get adopted in 10 days we'll they tricked me took her to ac the next day and did not try very hard for her. She got EUTHANIZED on December 18 (which they told me she got pulled then) anyone who knows me knows I'm very familiar with how the process works with rescue. They lied to me I told them on several occasions I'd take her and just divide my home because she's to good to let something happen to her well they lied again and told animal control they have no one to take her to prevent her life from ending. She was only 3 and had a funny loving spirit and eager to please heart! ACA is a joke and need to stop trying to be a real rescue. Theyre office should be shut down its so filthy and unorganized. They failed her and probably many of other dogs. Don't trust them. I'm so sorry Mia Moos you didn't deserve this.
