I inquired about a cat and was simply told to fill out a lengthy application. After submitting, I was told he was going home with a family. Not long after I was then told that that had fallen through and he was now available. I ended up doing the foster to adopt option and as soon as he gets out at home he was sneezing constantly and wouldn’t eat. They loaded him in the carrier so I didn’t seem him before leaving. Thought it might just be anxiety but after a couple days it was looking like a URI (upper respiratory infection), which is common in shelters. I called and asked if he’d been showing any symptoms they said no. They showed no concern in response to me telling them how he was doing. They were not clearly informative of when their vet tech would be in office either; “only certain days during the week”. The shelter is an hour from me and I knew the cat needed a veterinarian not a vet tech. They refused to reimburse any of the $250 I spent there getting him antibiotics, anti nausea and fluids. He got better and all was good. There were times where calls were not returned and it was difficult to get in touch with someone. When I went to finalize, no one working there at any point asked how he was, how things were going, nothing. I never got a call checking up on him prior to finalization day either. Even after them knowing that he was sick. This didn’t rest well with me. I didn’t like the overall attitude from the people that worked there. The building could be cleaner, even for a shelter it was pretty bad. I see how they respond to less than favorable reviews and I’m looking forward to what they claim is a lie here but I can tell you everything said here is factual. The way they’ve chosen to respond to reviews here reflects a lot about the character and professionalism of this business. 2 stars instead of 1 because the cat I ended up with is absolutely wonderful
This has been best experience and best animal for my kids and I zhes a blessing thank you
My 4 year old daughter and I volunteer here about two times a week and we love it! It's small and cozy inside. They have been very nice and welcoming to us. We have already met a few techs, fellow volunteers, and even the operator of this specific SPCA came in one of the days we were there. Everyone is pleasant and supportive of enlightening and including my daughter (who wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up). All the animals seem well cared for and taken care of since we've been here (going on about 3 weeks now). I highly recommend them and support the cause they represent in trying to find homes for animals that need a second chance ❤️
I have tried to call multiple time plus filled out an application for a pup. Just to find out the dog I have inquired about isn’t even here, but the website does not report that. Also, the “rescue house” is a trailer and a place who represent “caring” for animals has dogs outside in the cold in 20 degree weather. I’m very disappointed in this place … Do Better!
This place really does care about the animals. And they are so very nice and helpful and patient when we went to look for our new kitty. ❤️ If you are looking for a new cat or dog stop by, I saw so many sweet ones that would love a home! Scarlett is still fitting in just fine. Brings tons and tons of joy to our family ♥️♥️♥️
Really worked with us to find the right dog. They even let us foster her to be sure. She loves the woods and our fenced yard
