I'd never heard of this place before tragedy struck and my cat unexpectedly passed away. We were directed to call here, and while there was sadly nothing anyone could've done, I learned of this vet's cremation services and, with the help of a dear friend, I decided to let them to handle the issue. From start to finish, they were better than I could've expected. Their staff was so kind, helpful, and understanding while the office itself was basically immaculate. They handled everything with a professional care I greatly appreciated during a time of immense grief. If I ever heal from my loss well enough to adopt another animal, I would love to make After Hours Vet their primary care provider.
The next day after, they ripped me off. See my other review for details. I took her out to do her business and notice she was straining to poop. I pick her up a poop was matted into her hair around her rectum so that she couldn't go. How did they not notice that. This could have made her more sick not being able to go. You can tell it's been like this for a few days. I had to cut it to get it loose. You people are horrible.
My partner, I and our disabled kitten were treated horribly. Extremely brisk and uncaring as she was struggling. She had to be put to rest and they rushed us through saying goodbye, did not allow us to be there for the euthanasia and the real kicker was how they treated her body. I can understand not being able to be there, I can also understand that she was suffering and that is last we wanted. But how she was treated after is unacceptable. Our precious Flick was rolled into a tube. Taped in a cover. And then put into a memorial bag. My husband and I were just able to bring ourselves to bury her and we were appalled. Her back legs did not work and they folded our baby girl onto herself. Her legs were bent up to her face and her face was smashed with her ears bent in the wrong direction. There was room in the memorial bag. She did not have to be treated as such. If you care how your babies are handled after they pass; do not go here. I would NEVER recommend this emergency vet.
I brought my puppy here over the weekend after having a positive experience with my beagle 2 years ago. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had and is the first time I felt the need to leave a review to protect other pet parents. My puppy was vomiting and having diarrhea all day Saturday, was not eating well, and didn’t have her normal energy. I brought her in around 11:30 pm and did expect that I would need to wait a few hours. Around 1 am, they took my dog back and asked me for a history. I reviewed with them her issues, her allergy to chicken, etc. They asked if I’d like x-rays and I said yes. Around 5 am, after being one of two remaining people left in the lobby, we get called back to a room. After 30 minutes, a vet comes in to talk about my dog and I again have to explain the history and they ask if I want x-rays done, which I’d already agreed to hours earlier. They at this point had only done blood work. After deciding on a treatment plan, it took another hour before we were able to checkout. We still had no answers and I did not feel confident that my puppy would be any better. I checked out around 6:30 and was told they’d be right back up with my dog. She was not brought up to me for another 45 minutes. My puppy was still experiencing issues Sunday and Monday, so I had to take her to my primary vet yesterday to actually have treatment to help her feel better. On top of all that, instead of emailing me with the notes from my puppy’s visit using the email I verified with them, they sent it to my sister’s email they had on file from a visit two years ago. When reading over the notes, I saw that they had stated that she had normal appetite when a big issue with her visit was that she had a lack of appetite. They also recommended feeding chicken and rice after I’d already told a vet tech and vet that she is allergic to chicken. It was a waste of money and left my puppy still sick and needing proper care.
I brought my cat there in July, he was ill. The staff was rude, mad that my cat was upset with them during exam. Ultimately they diagnosed him with pancreatitis and discharged us. 4 hours later he continued to worsen in his symptoms despite the medication they gave me. Took him to an emergency vet in Winston Salem, they diagnosed him with metastatic liver cancer. They said his liver was almost 3 times normal size under ultrasound and they could see multiple tumors. My issue ultimately is, why did this facility not do an ultrasound on him when the chief complaint was abdominal discomfort. I’m devastated that this vet gave me a false hope of his diagnosis. When I reviewed the labs they gave me at this facility at a later time, his liver enzymes were almost 10 times normal value. I would not recommend this office at all. I only am leaving this review to save others the potential for heart break from a misdiagnosis and poor treatment.
My sweet baby is in heat and I thought she had passed A LOT of blood and clots on morning. I took her here because her normal vet was booked. I live 40mins away but this place has been recommended by a family friend. Anyway, her lab work and scans were all normal so the vet said it was just a really bad heat cycle. Fast forward to 4 hours later at home, she poops black stool and vomits blood. So now I know what I saw in the morning was bloody vomit. I call ahead and race over there. After an exam, reviewing of earlier scans and bloodwork, we are told she has a stomach ulcer. All the symptoms track and a plan was enacted. She received fluids, antibiotic, antacid, and nausea medication while at the vet. We came home with 6 different medications to treat her and it’s been about 16 hours since she last vomited. The staff here were all so kind and caring. I’ve been to another emergency vet where the staff was rude and took no interest in your fur baby. This place is so wonderful and I will definitely be contacting them with any future emergencies!
