On 10/18/2023 my wife and little dogs where attacked while walking on the side walk near our home by 2 large dogs that had gotten out of their fenced area at a home near ours. The San Marcos police was called and responded the officer said there was nothing she could do but file a report and notify animal control the next day. I contacted animal control the next morning and advised them of what happened. No officer showed up to get a statement from us nor was we notified of actions taken by San Marcos animal control. I’m new to the San Marcos area and to Texas, I would think when people and other animals are attacked by dogs that some kind of investigation into what happened is important to the police and to the public. I have researched this problem and found that this is not the case. The laws of San Marcos and the laws of Texas on animal attacks are not important I guess to the city government . I live in the Blanco Vista neighborhood.
Won't deal with a rabid skunk in the neighborhood. Also told not to trap it when it's hot or it's considered animal abuse.
I called to report a pregnant malnourished, looking stray cat living in the parking lot of my apartment building the man on the phone was extremely rude. He tried to guilt trip me for giving him more work and then he told me that I have to catch the animal myself and bring her to the shelter if I want their help. So instead of doing their jobs they’re expecting me to somehow catch this cat with no help or resources. these people do not care about animals whatsoever.
So there are baby rattlesnakes at our apartment complex pet area and animal control refused to remove them??? What are we supposed to do???
Reported a dead deer in my front yard in the morning. Gone before the end of the lunch hour. Vultures heart-broken. Other deer in neighborhood relieved. Family grateful. Thanks San Marcos Animal Services!
My neighbor and I called the non emergency line today to get an officer out about a cat who had a severed tail and was paralyzed, very ill, and ALIVE but suffering in our yards. We have never seen this cat before. The very kind officer called to get animal Control there (it’s Saturday) and when he came is tossed the injured cat into the pen without any care and shut the door on its very injured half of a tail. The cats eyes were wide open in pain but he was unable to move. He was completely careless. Very disappointed. -Sarah
