Honestly it broke my heart with how boney my fur baby was when I had first adopted her a few months back. Overall we had great experience with the adoption process. I couldn’t ever imagine why someone would just dump her on the streets. I wouldn’t trade her for the world and she has her forever home with us now!
My niece got a dog from this place that was extremely malnourished and had a viral infection. The dog progressively got worse and they had to return the dog which was a devastating experience for a 14 year old. Got a new dog today and that dog has the same viral infection as the last one, and has mange or some other skin condition on the top of its head. They called it a scab wound but the dog definitely has a skin condition with excessive scratching and dandruff. This may be a no kill shelter but the dogs are definitely not in good health and are being given to people in horrible conditions. The dogs are being exposed to many conditions leading them to poor health. This place needs to be shut down. I’m sickened by this. These dogs should not be given to people when they are contagious. My sister lives in an apartment so now all the other dogs will be exposed to this viral infection. They should have vetted my sister better as an adopter of a dog with a viral infection. They are so desperate to get the dogs out that they have no ethical obligation towards the family adopting.
I responded to request to foster a 2yr old female that was on the termination list 2 says out. By the grace of God she was adopted while I was driving there. The young lady that I was working with has such a sweet soul. They really work at finding their pets homes. If you are thinking about making a wonderful addition to your family that is the place to go. They have dogs and cats both young and older. They have large and small. They have a pet for everyone. Saturdays are busy so I prefer other days. They have staff that will assist you in taking your choice out to a fenced yard where you can get acquainted. All pets are neutered and shots up to date. My little man was with me and he was a rescue and what a blessing he was for 18 years. People ask me what my favorite dog is and my response is a rescue. Go check out all the wagging tails.
We got this little Ole runt of the litter at 8 weeks old and 4 lbs. She is now 6 months old and weighs 29 lbs. She's awesome and we love her and the whole adoption was so easy. Be prepared for high energy breeds because shes a riot and pure choas some days but gives the best hugs. They give you the paperwork so you can stay on schedule with shots. Recommend 100%
The Montgomery County Animal Shelter does amazing work in caring for the animals there. They have always demonstrated their love and compassion by their devotion to helping and finding homes for God's creatures that goes beyond just words. The time and effort they put in is a true character of practicing kindness. I donate there because they actually put into practice action and not just words. God bless them all.
I came to the shelter & signed up to foster some kittens. Animal rescue & shelters can sometimes feel hopeless, but I was blown away by how great all the workers & volunteers are! Their job is not for the faint of heart, but every single person I encountered was so patient, helpful, & positive. They truly care about their mission to help animals & are efficient in the process. I highly recommend donating, fostering, or volunteering for MCAS.
