Amazing collection of books. Great prices. Good cause
I was treated very poorly today when I went to donate items to Animalsave. There appeared to be no one staffing the area where donations are received, so I called the number on the sign (per the instructions). When I explained that I was outside, wishing to offer some donations, the woman who answered simply said, "no," and then hung up on me. Perplexed, I called back, and she DIDN'T offer an apology, but just abruptly told me that I should knock on the door out back. (No door is visible.) She walked me through where I would find said door, which I then found open and a donation intake staffer was there, inside. He must have heard me that whole time but didn't come outside to greet me or help me. I was not made to feel that Animalsave is in need or or grateful for my donations, so that will be my last visit there.
Just stopped in for a little shopping. I found the store to be quite neat, as in tidy. It wasn't filled with a bunch of junk and I was able to find a few treasures for my needs. It supports a good cause and i highly recommend it. Just wanted to make note of a 'wall of shame' that they have with some photographs and license plates posted of people who actually stole from the thrift store. Wow ! Just find it hard to believe. So head in when you can to support them.
One of my favorite thrift stores in my town, I shop here regularly. The main store carries a good selection of clothing, small accessories, shoes, decorative and kitchen ware. They have a monthly 50% off sale, and always have lovely items. In the long building to the left is their cat adoption area, and behind that is their book store location, the Book Nook. This is the BEST thrift book store I've ever been in, and feels more like a retail bookstore, with items being organized by topic, then alphabetically by author. They also have a children's aisle, CDs, DVDs, cassettes and VHS, also well organized. The staff is always helpful and very friendly. Highly recommended.
About a year ago my wife donated some items to Animal Save. Unfortunately a box of heirloom diamond wedding rings got mixed into the donation. We returned to Animal Save and found two of the rings on display, the others were missing. They returned the two rings we could identify as ours and we thanked them for that and went our way. Fast forward to yesterday. We brought more items to donate and they refused our donation because "You gave us stuff and then wanted it back". They have the right to refuse donations as they see fit, I have no problem with that but to try to turn it around and make us look like the bad guys was too much. The high value rings were never recovered and never displayed. I find it hard to give a bad review as I believe in their mission but they truly earned this one.
Great place to score on what you might be looking for or find something you forgot you were looking for. Treasures like a rice cooker with vegetable tray built in I use regularly. Clean and organized.
