Description Animal Services protects public health and safety when it is threatened by uncontrolled pets and stray animals. Operating from a well-maintained shelter, the department serves 733 square miles of Garland County. Through a cooperative agreement with the Garland County Sheriff’s Department, Animal Services responds to all animal complaints within the unincorporated areas of Garland County. Animal Services provides animal adoptions, surrenders and reclaims. It also offers live animal trap loan-out program, microchips, city licenses, stray dog pickup and deceased animal pickup (off of roadways and public right-of-ways).
We adopted our Bosco, a shepherd mix (formerly known as Reese) last month, he has been such a wonderful addition to our family, I wish we had looked here sooner. The staff was wonderful in helping us find a dog that would suit our family that already consisted of a female German Shepherd Dog. They even gave us very valuable tips to help us to have a successful union of our two canines. I highly recommend making this your one stop to find a new fur baby!
We got there early and they let come in as soon as they all got organized. They were all very very friendly respectful. And got us the dog we went for . We named him Brother cuz he has two sisters. He is the greatest dog ever .
The woman answering the phone has some bad customer service. Asking questions and not having space I get, but telling someone to put down their animal because they are trying to do the right thing and turn them over to the people who can help them is awful. If the humane society actually sees this or the shelter or whomever can fire this woman please do so. Makes me wonder what other hostile employees work there and biased off of some other reviews, seems there’s a couple more bad apples in this bunch. SMH
After my neighbor passed away a random dog appeared on his property which I was trying to keep but when I notified the rental dealers dealing with the home they said animal control would retrieve the dog instead? If someone has the time to actually feed and try to take care of strays why be rude and say he has to go to the shelter where no one will make sure he has a furever home?? I've rehomed many animals in the past and rehabilitated them from aggression, people at this shelter should appreciate people who actually want to take the time to care for these strays instead of keeping them locked up!
03-22-2024 3:25PM I called about an injured stray cat. The disgusting attitude and tone of the woman that I spoke to on the phone. She clearly doesn't know how to talk to people and should NOT be answering phone calls! I really wish I could recall what her name was. She was asking questions in circles instead of just asking (efficient) direct questions. Example. She asked where was it located. What street is it by. Then what street is adjacent. Then she asked was it at an address. Had I known that's where the questions were leading, then I would've just gave an address from the start instead of allowing her to steer the wheel of confusion. These ladies and gents really care about these animals!! They are well taken care of! They push really hard to get these babies adopted. You can feel the blonde headed officer with glasses passion for these animals, like it's strong!!! I'd like to thank all of yall that work there for loving and caring so much for them!!!
