We adopted a doggie from here, the staff was so helpful and answered all of our questions. We got a ton of information before taking him home. We couldn’t be more grateful for our new furry best friend
Great place for adopting! Had been thinking to adopt for awhile and had been slowly preparing. One day my depression and loneliness got the better of me and I made an instant decision to go to the nearest animal shelter. It was right before the holidays and I randomly walked into this place with no appointment. The staff was very friendly and made me feel welcome when I explained why I was there. I filled out paperwork online and had a very short wait. They let me look around at the cats and interact with the ones they knew were friendly. This one employee in the back (apologies I forgot his name) answered all my questions and was very kind. He had dark curly hair, brown skin and has cats of his own. I just wanted to say thank you! Also, thanks to Nina I met this amazing 2 year old black cat in her office and decided to take him home with me that very day:) He has been such a blessing in my life and has the sweetest personality! He allows anyone he meets to pet him and his first vet visit with me went SO smooth. I should add that the vet visit went smooth not only because of my boys sweet personality, but also because it was completely covered by ACCT Philly! They give you a certificate which covers the appointment. I didn’t pay a dime. ACCT also made sure he was up to date on all his vaccines and microchipped before I adopted him. As a first time cat mom, this little guy has completely changed my life for the better:) This cat is way more social than me lol. Please adopt from here they were great!
We went to check out my husband's dream pup, and we believe we found her! It's a little crazy right now, but ACCT was great! Thank you! We'll take great care of Unique!

Thanks to the dedication and support of the team at ACCT and the Animal Protection Officers, I have been able to foster and successfully adopt out dozens of animals in need over the years. Everything from neonatal bottle baby kittens to senior dogs/cats, medically needy animals. The compassion of all involved has helped me help save many animals that have been severely abused or neglected. As Philadelphia’s only open intake animal shelter they have a larger burden to bear than almost any animal welfare and protection agency I have been involved with in my 18 years of doing rescue all over the country. In addition to working to enforce the PA animal cruelty and neglect laws with the Animal Protection Officers, this means they cannot turn away any animal in need from the public or in the community at large while other shelters and rescues are able to decline accepting an animal when they are at capacity. They cannot save every animal - no one person or organization can. What they are able to do is amazing networking with local rescues and organizations as well as their volunteer foster homes to give as many animals a chance at a forever home and when an animal is suffering &there is no hope of recovery they help them humanely and painlessly pass. If you’ve read this far into my review : please spay/neuter your pets to help reduce overpopulation, volunteer, foster, or adopt. I also kindly ask that you help in reducing the stigma surrounding the fact that euthanasia does occur in the shelters. Trust me when I tell you that it is either to relieve irreversible suffering and the last option after a team of dozens of people have exhausted every possibility and resource.
