I got my dobie cropped on March 12, 2024. Have nothing but good things to say about how his ears turned out, the only “bad” thing is I didn’t like how they were posting his ears, the tape they were using always left his ears irritated and bald bc it was too sticky, so I decided to learn and started doing it myself. Like I said the crop itself is beautiful, I love how they turned out, is exactly what I asked for. For posting tho I’d advise you to learn how to do it yourself.

I took my 1 yr old frenchie in today. The staff was very friendly and professional. I was a walk-in and I had a very short wait to be seen. Dr. Carlisle was very thorough and patient. He answered all my questions. The bill was very reasonable.

I am SO impressed with the service I received. My dog would not eat, vomiting and extremely lethargic. I was so worried about her. Dr. Liz King was so wonderful! She quickly admitted her into the hospital, ran a-lot of test and kept her overnight. Dr. King even called me at home to check on her! I knew my dog was in good hands. Vet tech Ryan & Dr. Liz King…. Thank you for everything you do! ❤️ 🐾 Fiona & I are very grateful for you!

So I came in about 2 weeks ago to get my cat checked up because of extreme weight loss and she was diagnosed with a large intestinal tumor in her stomach by Dr. King. in the end, they did help her with what they could, did her lab work, an ultrasound, & some inflammatory/anti-pain shots and i am appreciative of that, which is the only reason i am sticking with an extra star. but the line of communication between owner and doctor is truly abysmal here. i took her in early morning and when they finally saw her, i explained her situation and they took her back, only told me to come back at 1 pm. they did not tell me what they would be doing, how much it might be, just that they would look at her. came back at one, and i am given a very large bill and shown they did some labwork on her & found the tumor. i cant stress enough how i was told nothing about what was going to happen. i am well aware vet bills often come hefty but to be given no step-by-step until that point, no phone call (which they had promised and didn't get). i felt completely in the dark throughout the whole thing. if i WAS in a less fortunate situation financially and suddenly handed this giant bill, what the hell would have happened then? i had to push Dr. King to give me my options on what to do, something he wouldn't being super clear on except that she was dying and he didn't think she'd last the weekend because she was so thin. made an off-hand remark about if i had come in 6 months earlier, they probably could have done something about it, and surgery is risky now. which i understand, but had i had any idea my cat was in pain or acting strange, of COURSE i would have come sooner to get her checked out. but i simply had no idea of anything wrong with her until she very suddenly and scarily dropped in weight. i only wanted to know how i could best help her now, if it was going to be her last days & i just needed to spend what time i had left with her. whatever she needed i was willing to do it but Dr. King felt very antagonistic and uninformative until constantly forcing him to. i called the office back today to ask when I might need to come back in to get her pain/anti-inflammatory shots renewed as it's been 2 full weeks since she got them and i wasn't told how long they lasted (assumedly because Dr. King expected her passing over the weekend, but thankfully she is still kicking and feeling mostly herself again, but i again wasn't told what to do if she DID survive). the person at the front desk seemed completely unknowledgable and didn't seem to care. couldn't talk to a doctor because they were busy, which is fine and makes sense. but they didn't redirect me to what i could do or if i needed to come in, basically just gave me the shrug. this is absolutely not the attitude you want for a place meant to help animals. i am surprised by other reviews being so high, but what i have seen most seem to be for normal, average check up, which is even scarier that this is how they act when something more severe does come their way. i truly and sincerely hope Dr. King finds the time necessary to talk to the owners properly because it is our pets who will end up paying for it.

I've been going here over 20 years even when they had their location in pine street. They have always treated my babies well and very understanding and kind when I had to put down my baby boy Fred.

Maria Cruz

Hello my name is Maria Cruz and I’m going to share my story with Smith Animal Hospital. I’m Portuguese and came to America in 1997 and lived in MA until 2009. In 2009 I moved to Spartanburg SC because of work. I was depressed because I was away from family and friends. Every day when I came home from work I used to go to the dog park just to relax; I was jealous of other people having a dog. I told my husband that I wanted one so badly and he advise me that dogs don’t leave forever and it’s sad when they die. I fought hard and I got my first dog “ Rocco” a yorkie Poo. It was a month and half when I got him. I took him to the vet for his shots and to get him fixed. According to my mother in law as long I fed him good and be on time for his shots I was good. I always took him to the pet mobile for his shots. Rocco has always been a good dog. During covid my other dog that I rescued had to have back surgery and I changed their food; I started to cook for them all organic food. One thing that I probably didn’t good as a pet mom was the dental care. In January I noticed that Rocco had his two top teeth lose so I thought it would fall on his own … it did… but I didn’t realized until later when he was scraping his face on dirty and concrete. Then it looked like he had a slip lip; I thought I could use the internet to help him but it seemed not to help. I know that I had to do something because I was not been himself. I didn’t have a vet for him and when I googled the “smith animal hospital” popped up and with good reviews. I took him last Monday and we had doctor King; he was very nice and upfront with me saying that Rocco had a heart failure, bad teeth and the cut on his lip probably looked like cancer. Thank his that I had my neighbor with me to support me. Dr Kong told me that the main thing was to have Rocco’s heart healthy. We came home with antibiotics and heart pills and had to came back in 7 days. Let me tell you that this were the most difficult days for me. Today 4/2/24 I dropped Rocco for a cardio work and I was nervous, couldn’t concentrate in anything. Again I had my neighbor to came with me to hear the news. ALL I WANTED TO SAY IS THANK YOU DR KING❤️ he was so nice and kind to tell me all bout the results and what we need to do to get Rocco in better health 😃 I’m so grateful for this man and the stuff working in there.
