You never know what you'll find in this fun little thrift shop that benefits the Espanola Valley Humane Society. You can find designer items next to vintage pieces. They also have things from Dillard's, Target, Ann Taylor, etc. The stock changes regularly, so you can pop in whenever, and always see "new" things. This place has gone through many changes. I loved it before it moved to it's current location- prices were reasonable & the staff was very nice. Once they moved and went "boutique", it went downhill. The prices skyrocketed, and the staff was horrid, starting with the manager and including several others. It seems to have found a happy medium now though. The boutique feel is still there, but pricing is fair, and the staff is now nice, friendly and not all obnoxious (It was that bad. I'm not kidding). It's definitely worth a stop in. I'd ignore the older negative reviews and see for yourself. Plus they sometimes have kitties you can play with.
One of the best thrift stores I have been to, and I search them out in my travels. Was immediately greeted when I entered the store. Several staff members were working on displays to get them just so. Clothing was well organized by both size and color, with consistent pricing. There was a small "designer" section. The store had a truly "boutique" feel to it. My understanding was major changes have been made in the last couple of months. Please give them another chance if you were previously disappointed.
What a great store! Not only can you find excellent (often brand name) clothing and accessories, the book and CD selection is stellar. The staff are all very helpful, and it's nice to know that the proceeds from all the sales go to support the Espanola Valley Humane Society. I'll be back often to browse. Plus, kittens!
I adopted two special needs animals one blind kitten and a senior dog with heartworm disease. Both received excellent care while in the shelter and I couldn't ask for a more supportive staff during the treatment process. The staff is friendly, outgoing and they love the animals!
I have shopped and donated to Barkin Boutique for years and have generally enjoyed the experience but after the recent change in managers, the store has become increasingly junky and over crowded. The store at one time resembled an upscale consignment store but it now is full of stuff that should have been thrown away. There is no rime or reason to the display of the items and the clothing racks are packed so full of clothes, you cannot even look . Piles of unidentifiable items on the floors make it almost impossible to walk through the store. The latest sales staff has also become increasingly unfriendly and not helpful at all. Please bring in a new manager and clean up what once was one of my favorite thrift stores in Santa Fe. I now donate to Look What the Cat Brought In II downtown.
Really wonderful atmosphere and staff. I love that they host cats from the Espanola Humane Shelter. We adopted two of our kitties through the shop, actually!
