Dr. Kate Mallo is an incredible veterinarian whose care for her patients and attention to detail are unparalleled. My animals have always received high quality and ideal care from her. Dr. Mallo is the reason that I drive from Garner and pay Cary prices for veterinary care. You get what you pay for, and she is priceless. The boarding staff is also incredibly friendly and adoring to my dogs. The front desk staff is also wonderful. This is a classy operation and an established vet hospital in a location where there is a lot of competition. I cannot recommend it or Dr. Mallo enough, especially if you are new to the area and looking for a top-notch veterinarian hospital. Look no further, this is your place.
The reviews highlighting price gouging concerns were accurate. Gentle Care’s prices are overtly inflated compared to other clinics in the area. Financials aside, I remained loyal to them over a period of many years. Initially, when my dog needed basic check-ups and was in good health, everything seemed fine, though I was uneasy about the push for expensive add-ons. However, as my dog aged and her health declined, it became clear that Gentle Care couldn't meet our needs. They neglected my dogs health problem for months and didn’t let me know the severity of it until it blew up, and after numerous costly tests totaling thousands of dollars, they referred us to NCSU as they were not equipped to handle my dogs case. Shockingly, NCSU's fees were nearly half of Gentle Care's, despite being one of the nation's top veterinary hospitals. Costs aside, I am so angry that months had gone by where we could have done something to help my dog. The tipping point came when Dr. DeAngelis provided euthanasia information instead of pursuing treatment options. It felt dismissive, and getting answers was difficult. There was no follow-up about how my dog was doing following that last appointment. I am so disappointed in Dr.DeAngelis and would not recommend entrusting her with care of your loved pets.
This is a truly exceptional group of people who have taken amazing care of my dog Jack through a complicated sequence of identifying multiple health concerns. They are so compassionate, kind and friendly, of course Jack just thinks he coming in to see his friends, especially Karen and Cassie at the front desk! Dr. DiColandrea and Dr. Smith have gone above and beyond coordinating with Jack's specialists (some of whom have been difficult to communicate with, or disagreed with each other, or couldn't figure out what was going on) to figure out the best plan for Jack each step of the way. Brett the groomer does an absolutely amazing job with Jack's haircut (Jack is a large goldendoodle, btw!) and is actually not booked out too far! Plus the animal care team has been awesome with Jack's bath and brush service in between haircuts. Thanks for all of the amazing help and support over the years!!!
Staff is always caring and attentive. Hence, they live up to their name as they deal with their human and four legged clients. GCAH is always welcoming. They go above and beyond and the vets have personality, especially Tinker Bell, although Tinks hair grew back, and are committed to your pets. I highly recommend them!
The groomer did an outstanding job with my golden retriever. She is very old and requires a lot of rest breaks. He was very patient with her and she came home looking great, tired, but happy.
In over 40 years of pet parenthood in many states, I have experienced the best communication and customer service at Gentle Care - all staff, across the board. Access to sophisticated diagnostics and treatments. Costs are clearly explained, as well as options. When I choose not to use an option, I don't feel judged (that's rare). In 2 years, we have been through cancer and euthanasia, new chronic issues with another senior pet, last-minute boarding needs, and a new adoption w/existing conditions. An unusual blend of compassion, communication, broad services and professionalism.
