I adopted my dear cat Captain Nemo just earlier this month from here! They were able to make an appointment just hours in advance, which was quite nice. They let me have time with the cat prior to making a decision (which was yes!!) and they even already had a neutering appointment reserved for him at a local clinic for the next day, which was particularly helpful. Thank you to the animal shelter; i love my dearest boy.

They were really nice and you could tell cared about the animals. I adopted NG cat August from there and he is the sweetest. They gave us all sorts of car toys and collars to pick from for free when I adopted him. I really appreciate all they did for him and I.

Called recently to inquire about a litter of kittens I was told by another officer were going to be up for adoption soon. Lady at the phone said I could not make an appointment to even meet them because another officer had, in her exact words, "first dibs" on which kitten she would take home. Incredibly rude and told me "not to start with this" even though this is only the second time I've called about them

Trying to get a cat from here. Most people who can adopt a cat, also have a job. Hours need to be more friendly to the working class. Maybe if they were, the cats would go to a good home, were they will be taken care of and not wind up in a shelter!!!!!

Visiting the shelter, you are allowed to move between the cat room and the dog room freely. In the cat room most of the cats are allowed to be taken out and petted, unless they've been marked specially. Some of the cages have small toys in them, and each cage has its own private litterbox. The dog room is a long hall with a series of kennels. Each kennel has a cot in it that is above the floor for the dogs to lay on. You cannot take the animals out of their kennels just to play in the room, but you Can volunteer to walk the adoptable dogs any day Except Saturday, and before 4:30pm. This is very important because while stray dogs are kept in the 'impound' area in the back for three days--to give possible owners the chance to retrieve runaways--with the option to go either inside or out to a small area at any given time, adoptable dogs do Not have this option and are only let out once a day into the center yard, which is flooded each time it rains. The shelter does Not take general volunteers, and it is financed by the state. Inmates from the county jail are brought in to clean cages etc. each morning. In order to adopt an animal it Must Be Spayed/Neutered. If the animal you want is not already Spayed/Neutered you must make an appointment with the vet, and the shelter will drop the animal off at the vet's, for you to pick up afterward. You cannot adopt a pet for Breeding.
